This thread is for content-based solutions to problems with the monk class. This means altering mobs or zones in such a way to make us more desireable. Visit these threads to post your ideas for solutions to problems with monk combat arts, itemization, or AA abilities.

Aggro-Lock immune Raid mobs

Currently almost all TSO raid mobs are immune to peel's aggro-lock component, robbing us of our single greatest tool for holding aggro. Remove the aggro lock immunities from these mobs.

Strikethrough

That there is currently a means for mobs to bypass avoidance, even uncontested avoidance, but not for mobs to bypass mitigation makes avoidance tanking significantly weaker in comparison to mitigation tanking. Remove strikethrough as a mechanic completely, and if you find plate tank's avoidance is too high, then reduce that directly instead of making avoidance as a whole less useful.

Alternatively, create a mechanic by which certain mobs have a chance to bypass mitigation entirely, and use this as a means to create content for which having a brawler MT is preferable.

Damage Shields: As monks have high haste and low-delay weapons, we tend to hit mobs far more often than other tanks. This means that we take significantly more damage from damage shields, and that the debuffs/powerdrains/curses/etc. that many raid mobs have which fire on us when we attack them tend to hit monks far more than any other tank. Monks need some way to mitigate this unbalance.

More group zones made primarily of single-mob encounters

More Raid encounters that require a brawler

More encounters which require multiple fighters in the script, like the Sisters in Shard of Hate, should be put in. This can be done through scripting, like the sisters, requiring 3-4 fighters in the raid (like Zarrakon) or through fighter dps checks (Byzola, Yzlak in Munzok's Material Bastion). Raids should be designed to truly need at least one warrior, one crusader, and one brawler.

Seems to me that, rather than removing strikethrough on mobs, things could be equalized by giving some mobs an "exact strike" type ability that bypassed mitigation. Properly balanced, that would give brawlers an edge in those fights in the same way that mitigation tanks have in strikethrough fights.

First off I think the idea of any mob being able to completely bypass anythings entire scheme of defense was a BS cop-out way to make the mobs harder. Theres a million other ways to make a fight harder, bypassing a characters defense shoudlnt be among them. Anything short of the avatars should NEVER have the ability to harm a creature without that creatures defenses playing a factor.

That said I highly doubt SoE will remove strikethough simply because it requires more work in rebalancing the fights. But hey thats business take the easy way out.

and no things wont even remotely equalize if they make a mit bypassing effect. It will only make things worse by making all tanks primary defenses mean nothing in many fights. There is no simple easy fix for it cause strikethrough was the simple easy fix. I'm all for removing it. but not at the expense of raid difficulty.

As for Agro-Lock immune mobs. I agree thats BS too. should absolutely be changed to allow an agro-lock with an immunity timer after the fact so it cant be locked down successively, but can be locked down sporadically.

I dont understand your singel mob group zone comment. almsot all of RoK instances can be single pulled. just cause thats not the newest content doesnt mean the content doesnt already exist. if they were to alter some zones they should change a couple in both areas so that there is both single and multi encounter instances in both t8 areas.

And I absolutely agree there needs to be many many more raid mobs that are designed for an avoidance tank to MT them. Insanely fast light hitters with massive hp pools, but in that instance avoidance would actually have to work which lets face it, it doesnt, farm too much RNG in avoidance which is why you dont see many brawlers MT's as it is. And I whole heartedly agree raid bosses should be designed around 1 of each tank type being present in the raid.
