It's gonna seem pretty silly, but I have an issue with the petrified eye illusion not working properly on soga models for my kerra toon. I use the illusions because I cannot change my race, and I have grown bored in 5 years of looking as a kerra. On other toons when I change the look through a barber token and use an illusion, the hair and everything changes too - but with my kerra toon on SOGA only, there is no change in appearance AND, worst of all, the skin and hair are all jet black. I end up with no features, just eyes shining out of a black blob. It happens with all the races... It's not even a skin tone you can select if you create a character in that race!

I know you must have much better things to do, but I really am growing to dislike this toon because I cannot get a look I like. Please can you look into whether it's possible to fix the way these petrified eyes work in soga models for kerra? Even if you can just lift the skin tone a little so I don't look like I live in a coal mine?

i think what the OP is meaning is the base character is kerra and when they use a petrified eye to make it say, a half elf, the half elf soga model that is resulting ends up being all black.

something wonky about how the values of the original character are translating to the features of the soga equiv.. lol. can you post a screenshot? that might be worth seeing.

I have included my base character at the top so you can see I haven't just knocked back the gfx settings for max effect. These are taken on screenshot quality in average lighting conditions in our GH. I have bad dreams about the erudite one Oo

Your problem is most likely your fur color, the illusions are colored based off the original model.

I sometimes use eyes as my Lady often needs to go places she should not be, or be recognized, actually this is true with several of my toons (shhh... )

I have noticed that according to the colors and accessories you use on the base model it will affect the eye illusion. If you are that unhappy with your Kerra, I suggest changing her fur pattern or color until you find an alternate that you like better. Do remember that they will not translate directly, my red furred Kerra has black hair in normals as a Koada'dal, however a friend who is a male calico is a very light skinned blond Koada'dal when illusioned.

If you have a slot open, and do not want to pay the barber fees - I would suggest making an alt, test the eye, dump the alt and repeat until you find a look you like - really then all you are testing for is fur color, pattern and accessories. It may take an afternoon but will save you the headache over escalating costs at the barber. This way you are not changing your main until you have a firm decision.

I wish that was the case.. but I have tried.. changing every single element independantly including fur colour.. then logging in to see if it changed anything... In non soga this works.. it's actually the kerra adorment that changes the hair for the illusions.... but with soga nothing changes anything... the models you see above are all it's possible to get the way things are currently. It SHOULD work the way you say.. and does on my other toons which have a soga model. I think the bug must be because the kerra race has no soga model... that's why I am posting here, in the hope they can fix it

I imagine you were originally a black kerra. The non soga illusions are based on your character's current appearance.

not so - I can change the look in non soga appearance on the kerra using the barber token, and with all non kerra toons the look can be changed in both soga and regular models...

Us iksars turn green when this happens. Green halflings with green hair are quite a sight to behold! Put on the Emerald Hide armor and run though the Kunzar Jungle! Maybe they won't see ya!

I am having the same issues with my trolls. One looks orange, one looks yellow (which is not so bad cus at least my wood elf just looks like she has a bad sunburn).... It has nothing to do with the color you originally chose your toon to be (my trolls were both green upon creation). Also, an iksar in my guild has the same problem. She looks like a green bean when she uses illusion forms. You can change your appearance 8000 times and will still have the same hair/skin color. Changing your accessories will change your hair style though, I learned that through all my experimenting. I have petitioned this a few times. A GM actually looked into my account and said it was strange but they had never seen it before.

There's gotta be a way to fix it! There's another troll in an alliance guild whose appearance looks normal. Halfling has light skin, just his hair is whatever color his trolls skin is (ie green). I wish my trolls would look like that.

Also, if you activate the alternate models, your toon without a SOGA model (kerran, iksar, troll...) will look the way I described previously: normal skin color, hair color is the color of your toon (ie green). BUT no one else can see you this way unless they also have alternate models activated. So, you're still running around looking like a giant carrot or piece of charcoal

The GM and myself played around with making newbie toons that are trolls to see what happened when they used illusions... The GMs troll came out bright blue. The troll I made had gray skin (thinking gray will yeild a normal illusion skin color), this troll's illusions were bright red with red hair!

I'm glad to see that someone else is having the same issue. I hope sony will fix it. It's not one thing that can be adjusted unfortunately. It's a gamewide bug that needs attention.

Actually, with GU52 this problem has been fixed. I logged into my troll who normally wears a yellow wood elf illusion and there she was light skin with black hair! The only downside to this is that everytime you use an illusion (bone or dark elf mask, etc) your hair is different. Had to waste a few bones to figure the new appearance out At least your kitty in human form wont be charcoal! lol

does anyone know if there's a way to KEEP the illusion they want instead of the way it now changes with every time you use the petrified eye?

At Fan Faire, the devs talked about the potential of having mirrors (or something) to hold an appearance for a racial illusion. It's not something that has a specific date for completion or even more specifics on how it would be done, but an idea of something to solve the issue a lot of people have with racial illusions.
