Every few hours or so most of my UI and my maps all turn into white boxes. Have to close to game to fix it. Anyone know what might cause this? (all i can guess is a corrupted file, but if its worse and you need the dx thing just tell me and ill get it up)

Seems more like a memory issue to me. Eq2 is notoriously bad at handling memory and easily hogs over 1 gig despite 512 being listed as ideal on the box.

Yea, the thing is though that the game seems to never release any of the memory it uses up. I generally close the client and re-enter the game every hour or after zoning around 5 - 10 times...otherwise I'll crash.

It doesn't help that having to revive generally reloads the zone data compunding the memory issues and sometimes making people become stuck at the loading screen.

While this might be related to memory, I doubt the RAM itself would be the cause. If anything, it could be the memory on the graphics card.

Based on your description, the most likely causes seem like heat on the graphics card or a corrupted UI file. For heat on the graphics card you will want to make sure your computer vents are clear of dust/debris and that your fans are still spinning properly. If you feel comfortable doing so then I would advise opening your case and checking the fan on the graphics card as well.

A corrupt UI file is also a possibility. I have listed all of the UI/Settings files below. I would suggest moving all of these files to a temporary folder and then running the launchpad to replace them. That way you can move those files back to their original locations if this doesn't work:

cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini

All of those files are located within the Everquest 2 directory.
