So I have a pile of fabled crap in my bag from various teirs/random pieces. everything from x2 instance to guk3 boots. The problem i'm running into here is replacing my 5 piece set. If i drop even one piece its a -1400 mitigation decrease. All of these random pieces put together wouldn't even come close the mit i can get with 5pc. It's just too much of a decrease. So am I pretty much stuck with t2 until i get 5 pieces of volcanic gear? Kind of sucks having all this great gear just sitting in my inventory. Per piece it all has higher mit than my t2 pieces, but the set just destroys it.

Let's just say Lower tier gear recognized higher tier gear for it's effects..

In your request, say if I have 5 t2 pieces and I reaplace 1 with a t3 piece, or t4 piece, it should keep the effect as if you had 5 t2 pieces.

Now if you had just 1 t2 piece and 1 t3 piece, and 3 t4 pieces, you would get up to the 5piece bonus for t2, up to a 4 piece bonus for t3 and up to the 3 set bonus for the t4.

If you had just 1 t2 and 4 t4, you would get up to the 5 piece bonus from t2 and up to the 4 piece bonus from t4.

say you had 1 t1, 1 t2, 1 t3 and 4 t4

You would get full set bonuses for t1 (7 pieces recognized in total) t2 (6 pieces recognized in total), for t3 you would get up to the 5 set bonus (5 pieces still recognized) and up to the 4 piece set bonus for t4.

There would probably have to be some restrictions...

like you would only get set bonuses from your lowerst tier piece, plus your highest tier pieces, so in this example you would get the full t1 bonus plus up to the 4 set bonus for having 4 t4 pieces.

...What?

So t3 gear would give me the set bonus if i had 1 t3 and 4 t2?

I'm confused.

If you had 1 t3 and 4 t2, you should only get the 5 piece bonus for t2.. since you only have 1 t3, you would not get any bonus for t3 gear.

if you had 2-t3 adn 3-t2, you would only get the 3 piece and 5 piece bonus for t2 and only the 2 piece bonus for t3.

if you had 3 of t3 and 2-t2 you would get the 3 piece and 2 piece bonus from t3 and t2 5 piece bonus.

so you would get the 2 piece bonus from the highest tier gear, not the lowest, but the 5 piece from the lowest tier since it would recognize the t3 gear. This would mean you could only have one of any set bonus type.. 2 piece bonus, 3 piece, 5 piece, etc.. which would make it a little more like a progression when upgrading 1-2 pieces of gear.

Ignore anything skycruise said....................

The set bonuses have different names for a reason. Wearing T2 armor does not give any T1 effects, nor does T3 give T2 or T1, etc. If you break your T2 set bonus for a T3 piece, you will see an initial drop in stats as the 5 set bonus usually is greater than a single piece of T3. Generally (not always) once you have either 2 pieces of T3, or 1 T3 and 1 nice fabled the combined effect is enough to offset the 5 set bonus. Same thing applies to T4, or any type of set bonus for that matter.

The progression seems that T4 has enough of a bonus to break sets as soon as you get a piece. T3 depends greatly on the piece and class if it is worth breaking the T2 set or not. You do only need 5 pieces for T2 set and have 6 pieces to choose from, so you can swap which 5 you are wearing to fit in that extra fabled/T3 piece.
