So TSO (and the Live Events this year) is seemingly wrapping up the overarching Void storyline that the game's been running since launch. This brings up the question then: what story will they be covering in the future expansions? So, I wanted to see if we couldn't compile the major stories that have appeared in the game, and that the next expansion could be based around. Here's what I've come up with so far:

-the Void: as I said before, it looks like they're working on wrapping this up. It might be a factor in the next expansion, but I doubt it will persist beyond that.

-Anashti Sul: started in DoF, and pretty much finished in TSO.

-Theer: the name would constantly pop up in various quests, but with no real context to it until the Lavastorm revamp. He's tied to the Void story, but his story hasn't been wrapped up.

-Naggy, Vox, and the prismatic eggs: you know eventually those eggs are going to start hatching.

-Kerafyrm and the Cult of the Awakened: after going to all the trouble of giving Ol' Sleepy his own cult, it's pretty likely that we'll be seeing him again.

-the Quelithulians: with their return in TSO, I think we're going to be learning about them fairly soon.

-the Underfoot: including such events as the emergence of the Ratonga, the collapse of Subtunaria, and the Serilian Horde.

-Luclin: how'd it blow up?

-the Chelsith Stone: I don't believe this ones been completely covered yet, has it?

I think that hits the major ones. Anything major I've missed?

You missed one that I can think of, and have been for awhile (though i believe it is tied to Theer):The Everling SagaWe still don't know exactly what is going on with him since the epilogue of Nek3 with opening the Book of Sunder...

The Swords of Destiny, while some call it concluded we're left with the fact that Lucan still has Soulfire, Exonus never made it to Antonia (hijacked by the Order of Marr), and both weapons likely have SOMETHING to do with Theer (possibly halves of his original weapon or something). There's enough of a loose plot thread that something more can be done with it [There's even an Order of Marr faction, even though it's impossible to my knowledge to gain/lose standing with them outside these quest lines and they have no merchants. So we'll probably see them, and Exonus, again].

Luclin and the Chelsith stone are related (at least sideways, the Chelsith Stone is a callendar of some kind that fortells events in Norrath's history, Luclin blowing up among them.)

As you pointed out, The Void and Theer story arcs probably have something to do with each other. As do the Naggy and Kerafyrm arcs (Naggy seems to be out for something Kerafyrm has, or something, he's not really willing to tell the truth).

The Underfoot also include the (possibly red herring) reference to "the Hatch" at the end of the Stormhammer signature questline. (in EQ1 the Hatch was a massive metal, well, hatch that covered the gate to Underfoot in The Hole on Odus.)

As you pointed out, we're probably close to done with Anashti Sul (except maybe seeing the results of her declaring war on Rodcet Nife and Bertoxxulous).

Ones you missed: the minor 'arc' of Rile Sathir being freed from Venril's control during the Greenmist questline (and showing up at the end of Atrebe's Labratory), which has potentially interesting consequences for Kunark given that the Sebilisian Empire is the last force with any real strength after the raiding questline, which means Rile and Venril could fight for a second time over the empire... [Venril is a Lich, and no one ever seems to break his phylactery, he'll be back. The other raid bosses from Kunark are far more mortal and probably won't.]

Also, the semi-major one of Mayong and his artifact chasing, to date: Soulfire, Chelsith Stone, Stormhammer (via Xicotl, though he got a fake that he may or may not have wanted, since the fake had the Rune of Below on it which is one of the runes on the Chelsith Stone.), and Lifeguide (either planned or already done, the quest is unclear as to if he has the Lifeguide or plans to aquire it soon). Mayong's planning something, but like Nagafen I doubt we'll see a clear answer regarding that one.

I think our baby dragon from Frostfell is going to have ramifications with Lord Nagafen and potentially, that device the Shadowedmen were going to 'allow' Naggy to find and test for them. the ice dragon from frostfell is reffered to as a new 'queen' I believe.

the prismatic eggs...yes I think they are bound to hatch eventually.

Soulfire and the Claymore....I think Theer storyline is just heating up a bit, and we'll probably see more of him, and his link to these weapons.

Mayong. So many things to think on. What is he up to? why are people that bear similarity to Zanne so important? we speculate that he wants to stop Ages End. but what if he really wants Ages End to just work in his favor. destroy present norrath, restore it as a Mystmyrian Norrath? Mayong is as always a enigma of what ifs and maybes.

the Quellthulians and Odus. Doomcookie insinuated once that Odus, the continent, is 'missing'. that maybe why the quellthulians are so eager to investigate the void with us, and are willing to trade powerful items and armor for shards of it to us. not to mention thier help with the portals to KoS. maybe they are looking for Odus..or at least a method to bring it back to norrath proper.

Velious. what became of the three empires? the wakening lands?

the thoery on Kunark...is interesting. Rile formally states that he intends to take the throne from Venril, as he did once before. we have his actual phylactery as players. those are found in teh CoM/Fens quests. the Greenmist insinuated that the new Crusaders of the Greenmist and Rile have an alliance and the crusaders are working to weaken Sebilis internally.

Just occurred to me that under the 'Underfoot' heading I probably should have included that dwarven pilgrimage into the Underfoot that left Kaladim largely undefended.

Mayong was a tough call for me. You could make the case that he's his own story arc, or say that he just manages to be a major player in a bunch of other stories (the Chelsith Stone, Theer, etc, etc)

I've never done the Greenmist quest. That news on Rile does definitely have potential as a future story element in Kunark.

also forgetting the question of who now holds the mantel to crontrol the drakota after darathers death?

The Drakota controller is more than likely going to be a minor element in one of the other stories (either Nagafen's, or Kerafyrm's).

I'm REALLY hoping for a followup on the Kunark story that expands on the idea of Rile fighting with Venril (especially since there's so much of the Kunark map that we plain don't visit, lots of space to build an opposing empire). Of course I'm biased here, I've always been a fan of Iksar/Kunark lore (it's what got me interested in the rest of it) and Rile's always been a favorite of mine (I still 'squee' when I see him up in rillis, the fact that he'll kill me if I say 'Hello' to him not withstanding...)

... The Year of Our Birth is 371 A.G. and Our Father is Rile! (I was so hoping that phrase would pop up in the Greenmist HQ like it did in EQ1...)

It's been destroyed.

also speaking of rile... during a quest in kunzar we attain his phylacy from CoM, its been sitting in my inventory ever sence giveing the fake back to the quest giver. the whole thing seems rather unfinnished and anticlamatic.

Still yet to come: Erollisi Marr's disappearance and the return of some deities and the absence of the rest. Now that Anashti has returned to Norrath proper and potential return of Theer ... we'll probably see more of those events - maybe opening of the Planes or close enough.

____________________________________

The Harness, the item that controlled the drakota, was left behind in Permafrost after Darathar's death. Since I didn't finished that world event so I don't know for sure how it ended ... it's probably still there ... unless someone can clarify that.

The Void isn't over just yet. There is still Theer, and his followers, to contend with. And Everling is probaby connected to him ... being servant of Theer, merchant of Oblivion, or something of the sort ... like Varsoon was to Anashti Sul. The anchors to Norrath are partially severed so it might not be long before they are entirely broken off. So probably by next expansion or one after that ... maybe sooner the better.

Oh ... whatever happened to the Ethernauts. It seemed anticlimactic to have them be gone alongside Anashti Sul at the end of the Odyssey.
