I just started, and have am level 8 with a bunch of level 1 armor and a level 3 sword. My question is, where can i buy better armor and swords and in what city? Furthermore where should i fight at level 8 and up for the best experience. Looking for cool quests and grinding.

Thanks

I don't know where you are located. But, make your way to timorous deep and start the questlines there. You will get very nice gear and some coin from doing the quests plus they are easy. A good reference with walkthroughs , type /browser eq2i.com while in game. Being level 8 with no game experience, you probably can't afford to buy much gear yet. Also, Darklight Woods has some good low level quests with decent gear.

What server did you choose?

Are you on the trial or a subscribed player? If subscribed;

Follow his advice and go to Timorous Deep asap. The gear you get there will match mastercrafted gear. Save your cash for spell upgrades and level 22 mastercrafted gear. If you do not understand how to get to Timorous Deep, google it. In EQ2 there are certain npcs with "Broker" under their name. This is where you can view the economy of your respective server. Try to save up money to buy "Salesmans Crate" or some variation thereof to place in your home; because the more items you can keep on the market at any given time the better.

In this game you can turn off your combat xp and quest xp (by right clicking your xp bar and seeing options). That means that your xp bar doesnt move but you can still earn AA xp for all quest completions and nameds you kill, or new places you uncover on your map. You can complete many, many more quests this way before you outlevel them and most importantly, earn lots of AA points to spend.

AA points make *such* a difference in any class you choose. Dont rush to max level and then kick yourself for missing a literal ton of this game, its huge.

I returned to the game 2 weeks ago today and started from scratch on Antonia Bayle and total ive made about 200 plat. My toon is level 22 with 40 AAs and kills ^^^ yellow heroic nameds like nothing at all. Its a really fun way to play the game and also another important note is that it seems not many low levels are around anymore so you can mostly solo dungeons by yourself (multiple times imo) and collect shinies all to yourself. Im level 30 tailor, but by far the majority of the cash ive made has been from getting tons of shinies out in the world... some fetching 8-9p each.

I reccomend downloading a mod called "eq2maps" google it. (This one is an absolute must for this playstyle i describe for maximum AA gain because there are hundreds of little info blips for each zone that are very helpful for named and quest locations)

You can also check on "ProfitUI" or others.

If you do this within two weeks you can have a nice stack of money, 40% horse, and just about any gear and spells you want off the broker easily. Good luck!!

Edit; Very important. You cant start earning any AAs untill level 10. No quests or named mobs under level 10 award any.

Just as previous poster said - Gorowyn is the place for coolest quests/armor/weapons and fun up to level 20. Apart of that, check out Soloing Timeline - it is divided by levels, making it easy to find matching zones and quests for your level.

Do _NOT_ sell your adept I's and treasured attunable loot, and harvestables to the NPC venders. Get yourself a bulletin board and put in your room, and get whatever boxes you can afford (salesman crate when you can) and sell that stuff to other players. Use the search tool to see what others have priced the items you find at and you'll be make coin enough to get a decent amount of equipment quickly. Everytime you're healing up between fights look for harvest nodes and collection harvestables and pick them up. Use them yourself or put up for sell.
