For the past few weeks the game has been freezeing up randomly. It can happen in almost any situation: solo, grouped, raiding, in guild halls, housing, cities, outdoor zones, dungeons, instances, while zoning, full screen, windowed and at any graphics settings. It can happen seconds after logging in or after hours of play. I've updated all my drivers and windows update, run full file scans and tried playing with no other programs running, all to no avail. If I have music playing at the time it stops and if I'm watching a video on my laptop which is stored on my PC stops it stops playing. I've also got up to date anti-viris and anti-spyware. The cursor can still move around the screen but that is the only response I can get, CTRL+ALT+DEL also doesn't work. The only thing I can do once this happens is force the PC to restart by holding the power button for 5 secs.

Any help in sorting this out would be very much appreciated!

Here is the dxdiag file and parts of the msinfo file:

http://www.box.net/shared/0by5vc4q8p

Greetings,

According to your DXdiag information, you are currently running the Nvidia drivers from February of this year. I have noticed that those drivers seem to have some issues with Everquest 2. I was recommending the version from October of last year, but I think there's a new version out for April as well. While I haven't tested the April release, you might want to try that and then use the October version if the game is still freezing. Let us know if the problem persists after trying that.

Thanks.

I'll play around with the drivers and see if that helps.

Let's try removing an unnecessary background applications next to make sure it isn't a program conflict. To disable background programs:1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again. If you are still experiencing the same issue, please reply back.

It doesn't seem to be a program conflict as the crashes are still occurring

Greetings,

With the way the game is freezing, it's possible that this problem is being caused by excess heat on the graphics card. Please check all of your computer vents and fans to make sure the fans are spinning and the vents are clear of dust/debris. If you feel comfortable doing so then I would advise opening the case and doing the same thing with your graphics card. If you have any kind of heat monitoring software for the card you might want to post the temperatures you're getting as well.
