Princess Ariel

Hi

I was considering makeing an alt troubador but seriously can't decide between wood elf and high elf. I have always played a wood elf and am kind of partial. What would be a better choice?

I saw the character traits are great for a high elf but I want her to be a wood worker and saw wood elfs get great character traits towards foresting and flecthing.

Thanks

Ariel, Pick the race you love the most because by the time you get to level 80 with your 200 AA's, race won't matter enough for you to even care : ). Good luck with your Troub!!!!

Race doesn't really matter in EQ2. I went with Froglok for the singing voice.

PS: Ratongas are the best for any class.

Not sure I agree that ANY class is as good as other..

My Bard (Who has been both a Dirge and a Troub) is a half elf, we get a mitigation decreaser, so does the Kerra I think, DE´s and Arasai get the insta temp buff..

There are some of the abilities that are worth chosing over other's for sure, and if we get to use poisons anytime soon, I'd say that DE's are clearly the best choice for us..

Anything other than Halfling, equiped with the Imperceptible Beauty boots (to show off those marvelous hairy feet) -- is simply quibbling over second place.

I had a Vah'Shir bard in EQ1. Great character. I still miss him. Now, I wouldn't play an EQ1 bard, though. SOE took all the artistry out of it with /melody and removing the missed notes.

My troubador is a gnome, but the sole reason behind that choice lies with my original EQ1 bard (who was a wood elf, but eternally in gnome form from his gnome illusion mask). I had many, many people actually believe that he was a gnome, even though they were not a racial choice for bards. I remade that guy here, and chose his "true" race

If I were going for choosing a race that I would see as "best" for traits alone, I'd probably go with fae or arasai. I have this thing about run speed, so any race with a 5% bonus run speed trait would be my personal choice. Aside from that it really wouldn't matter--just go with whatever you would have the most fun playing. I can't honestly imagine my troubador as anything but a gnome, and would probably end up rerolling him to gnome had I chosen something else.

I'm a halfling. And no I don't have my hairy feet showing And it doesn't really matter what race, cuz you get that High Elf illusion in the 30s? 40s? I don't remember. I just know I can change into a High Elf (level 47 currently).

And for the record, anything Ratonga is just wrong. Damned rodents should all be stomped as the flea-ridden, plague carriers they are.

Ratonga's are my favored toon race and I have quite a few, Necro, Dirge, Troub, Warlock. All of them fun to play well maybe not the Warlock hes forever 54 but one heck of a Jeweler .

Race really doesn't matter, play what you like because you'll be looking at it for a long time. Racial traits are nice but they don't amount to anything in the grander scheme of things. Sure this one might have a "neat" trait but in reality it won't affect the toon's usefullness.

I just started a Half Elf *ducks to avoid the oncoming barrage of rocks*, I mean, Ayr'Dal, and so far I'm loving it. Coupled with the awesome racial bonuses you can't go wrong.

If you go High Elf, your spell Illusion: High Elf won't do anything.

Half Elf IS the way forward. Good starting stats, decdnt agi but more str and sta than other Elves. Also, good racial bonuses.

I went Dark Elf. Fae or Arasai would have been even better for my purposes because of innate run speed buffs, but as it stands: 75% run speed + Hover = fun.

My Troub is a halfling for the higher starting agility, and tracking.

Halfling is a nice race. My troub was Kerra, liked the timered runspeed buff. I didt have MC gear so I used it alot when battles went wrong.

You should try some class with racials; magic dmg bonus for the shouts or woodelf for the bow crit- unless they already changed it again.

I personally love using Iksars, as they have water breathe, aqua vision, and innate safe fall (damage of which can be mitigated by racial traits gained later). Plus, you can start in gorowyn, which provides excellent starter gear through the quests...by far the best of the starting areas I have experienced.

Mine is an Erudite, for no real reason initially then for fun. Ended up being REALLY fun, with the bonus of Falling Grace and water breathing. Been a blast so far!

M
