The game will load up until it's about to actually play the game and then my entire computer crashes. Has happened every time I've tried opening the game. I used to have EQ2 on this same computer and never had that problem. Any suggestions?

try to find updated sound drivers for the system, yours are over 2 years old.

If the system is blue screening, go into My computer - properties and turn off the reboot on crash command. Then the next time it occurs copy down the text from the blue screen and post it here - will give an indication what driver is causing the crash

ok i seemed to fix the crashing problem by downgrading my video card driver, now a new problem has risen...

instead of crashing, the computer completely locks up and i have to manually turn the power off and back in order to "fix" the problem.

My old comp had the 9600 XT and it alone of all the 9xxx series cards of that generation had to use a certain driver, Catalyst 5.2 iirc. Any other driver would cause the game to crash or act up in other ways.

The correct driver is given on the "Supported video cards" page somewhere on the EQ2 website. I am partly drunk atm or I'd look it up for you.
