I have a LINKSYS WRT54GL IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Router - Retail got it from newegg. Problem is I made a password long time ago, because you need to, but I dont remember what it is. So my question is, is my router useless now? I cant get it set up with my PC and labtop.

My internet connection requires username and password too everytime you turn off and turn on computer, I think thats why I gave up on it earlier, I had at one point got the router running but couldnt get connection from internet.

Right now I just cant get pass this password part, I have no clue what to do, do I need the password to proceed or is there some way to clear it and make a new one? Should I buy a new router or what?

Theres a small button on the back of your router that you need to stick a pen tip in to click, thats the master reset button, try that.

Edit: Also, you shouldnt need a password, I have the same router & am running it with no password just fine.

Greetings,

You might want to check if it's just using the default password. For that router I'm pretty sure the default login is

Login: adminPassword: admin

Resetting as mentioned above may work as well. If not, you may need to unplug it completely and leave it off for around 10 minutes so the power cycles out. As a last resort I would try contacting linksys support since they should be able to correct the problem.
