Hi Guys, long time player, first time poster :)

First of all, I play a Berserker, so I don't really know that much about playing a mystic as yet. I would however like to get some advice for my friend who duo's with me on her Mystic (she is now lvl 37).

I have read several posts about suggestions on what to do with Mystic AA points. The Berserker forums have some suggested AA builds for different playstyles, but I have not seen anything quite so cut-and-dried here.

I understand that it is a good idea for a Mystic to put points into "upgrading Combat Spells to Combat Arts", but it is not 100% clear to me as a newb what this entails, which AA tree for example, what abilities on the tree, and how many points for each ability is suggested.

I realise that is probably enough information for a huge class guide! However any help or suggestions you can give would be much appreciated :)

Thanks for your time.

-Turambar

Oh well I scrolled about and didn't see a recent AA line discussion, so why not start over again.

Shamman tree:

Strength line focusses on the pet. In fact untill you get to the bottom of the strength line you'll be tempted to just keave your pet in the city. The AoE immunity keeps the pet alive to act as an extra dot in most scenarios even raid scenarios. The pet can proc small group wards and a short AE immunity off its combat as well as some bufs for group.

Agility most don't go to the bottom but stop with melee and heal crit enhancers. 100% melee crit is a common choice of those that want to boost DPS. This line is very synergistic with the combat line in eof mystic tree.

Stamina - fast cures of effects, and an increase in the size of the purple buffer where a group member is unconcious but not yet dead. Cure speed up somewhat less useful after consolidation of all different cures into one.

Wisdom - occasional boost to next heal cast, end ability alacrity only castable on a group member but 30% cast/recast/recovery time increase for short period makes you friends quick.

Int - long time since I looked, but oriented toward caster DPS.

EOF Mystic tree

Infamouse for lack of choices. Left side boosts rezes and right side adds small wards with cures of different types. Both these seem to be last options chosen.

Middle of the tree has enhancements to bufs. (highly desirable) ending in Ancestry a buf that increases proc rates on the group friend its cast on(often the mystic themself).

Combat section of the tree turns spells into combat abilities. One of these turns our green encounter AE in to a blue AoE and that alone is enjoyable. The rest of these help alot with allowing the mystic to have faster casting CA's to mix between heals. Line ends with another buf that helps the pet stay alive.

The combat section of the EOF mystic tree is probably the first spot, as those points both help leveling, but also remove the cost of some spell upgrades you would otherwise need.

When I was working my way up I put points into wisdom to improve my heals for grouping till I had enough to fill the strenth line, respeced all those points to strength and then returned to fill up wisdom. If a lot of soloing duoing, it might be as valuable to fill agility line for its melee and heal crits.

I assume all the smart mystics here will correct me anywhere I lied to you. My own spec should be visible at the section heading clickies above.

First thing, in the Mystic tree, max out the combat art line and get Weapon Mastery. Next, I'd go all the way down the AGI line (Shaman). I love the end ability and it procs often (and I like the Chieftain title ). Next, either do the STR line, for dog-dog, or the buff line in the Mystic tree.

Thank you both for your excellent replies!

We both found them extremely helpful. I too couldn't find much on the subject (that I could understand anyway).

Thanks again for your time, and good luck

T

Well I did the combat line first to weapon mastery as other suggested. Until I got to 80 I was also maxed in agility. Once I got to 80 though, I got my mirror and made my main "group/raid" spec, it was max strength and wisdom with enough in agility to get the heal crit. This may get changed once I get enough heal crit from gear though (right now self buffed on heal crit in the low 60's I think).

As for the other two parts of the EoF line, rez and cures, I am actually think of avoiding them until absolutely necessary and stick with putting points into the Shadows line. Right now I have an embarrassing low 157 AA but I am sucking it up finally and doing solo quests to correct this.
