View Full Version : My UI Error

Well, I was curious if it was just Atonia Bayle, and I was playing fine on there, until I did the tutorial quest in North Qeynos, after that I wasn't able to even log in, now I made a new character, deleted the files they told me, and I can play a different character, BUT if I do the tutorial quest on that character, boom, I can't get past the loading UI screen.

Tested it on Unrest server, with a Ratonga Assassin named Caddo, was going fine, was able to log in and out perfectly, and then I wondered "If I'm going to get that glitch again, I might as well try" so, I logged out before even heading to the tutorial, and loged back in, ok, I'm fine, loading perfect, do the tutorial quests with the making the items, etc, so I try it again, boom, log out, can't get past Loading UI screen... is there a bug or something that messes with my UI after that quest? Tested it twice now, and it runs perfect UNTIL the tutorial quest, I guess I could make a new character, skip the tutorial quest, but whats the point of a character without professions?

Sorry for the long explanation, but this is the only issue I have with the game, is that tutorial quest screwing me over, I can delete the files you'll tell me like, Default, Recent, EQ2.exe, EQ2.ini, server name / character, account name, etcetc, and all that means I can make a new character, but I really don't want to make a new character that can't even get involved in trade skills :/

I guess I'm going to have to buy a new router and see how that goes. Was reading some posts about Netgear, and how it can turn on a firewall at a certain list, I think it was 192.168.100.1 or something, and say's go in there and make sure its checked off for the firewall in there, but I'm not very bright when it comes to computers, any tips? x.x

If i make a new toon, i can log in and play fine, but all my old toons get stuck at the loading UI screen. So something is going on. Ive also responded to a few other posts, so your not the only one having problems with the Loading UI screen.

Greetings,

The game will typically access different ports when going to different areas in the game, so it's possible that a blocked port on the router is causing this issue. I'm interested to know whether or not the original poster was able to correct the issue by using a new router.

Do you get any error message when it gets stuck at the loading UI screen? When it fails to load, does it drop you back to character select or does the game crash to desktop? That information will help me to diagnose the issue.

i have a similar error that started just 2 days ago. i was playing as usual before the latest update. i logged out of my human character, and let the update do it's thing. the next day i logged in and when i tried entering my human i could walk around for about 3 minutes, but when i was pressing anything - monsters, npc, or even trying to chat, nothing happens. then, after about 1-3 minutes it logged out to character select. after that time every time i am trying to log into my human the loading stops at the UI resources part. i can hear the ambient sounds of the place my character's in, but after it gets stuck i get back to the character selection screen.

so i have decided to try my dwarf. the dwarf has the same problem of entering the game, walking around without being able to zone or do anything, and after 1 minute it loggs out to character select. if i enter the dwarf again i wont appear where i DCed to character select, i will appear at the place where i logged out the last time i was playing before the error, meaning the same place i appear now every time i log on my dwarf.

i cant play eq2 anymore! im paying money for the game and i really want this problem solved! i tried to re-install or re-download the game, but nothing works! i have friends wondering why am i gone!

please fix this problem as soon as possible. i will be checking this post every day, so if you need anymore details about the error i can provide them.

-A frustrated player

SirRigard,

It sounds like a firewall is blocking your upward connection. Do you have a firewall on that computer? If so, open the firewall's exception list and delete any entries named EQ2, Everquest 2, or launchpad. The next time you start the game you will be prompted to allow or deny. You'll want to select allow. Try that and let us know if it corrects the problem.

i have found that firewall is installed, but when i enter the firewall it says that the firewall is off, and that my computer is not protected. so i guess that the firewall has nothing to do with it.

but i do know that the problem is not in the account, it's the computer. my friend tried my account from his house and it worked fine, but when i tried his account on my computer the error continued.

owh and more details - some of my characters wont even load up, as soon as i hit play it loads for a short while, with the "entering world as" box, the disconnect button appears, and a few seconds later the game just closes, and i'm back at my desktop.

this is the first time i encounter such an error with eq2 on my computer, it worked perfectly fine untill that last update 2 days ago. maybe it has something to do with the update and my computer? there werent any problems or errors with previous updates.

It definitely sounds like something is blocking only the upward connection on your computer. What kind of security software are you using on that computer? Also, have you tried bypassing the router so your computer is plugged directly into the modem? That will let us know whether or not the router is causing this problem.

The modem will connect to the router(usually a seperate box) and then you can plug multiple computers into the router. To bypass the router, unplug your computer from the router and connect it directly to the modem, avoiding the router entirely.

You may not have a router in your internet connection but most people do. If you have more than one computer plugged into your internet connection then you definitely have a router of some sort.

i have a wireless network router, and 2 more computers are using my network.

i have a cable coming out of the wall, right into the router. from the router there's a cable going into my computer. and another cable is coming out of the router to the electricity.

(added later) - i have just tried connecting the cable from the wall right to my computer, and there was no internet.

(added later 2) - my time right now is 23:30, and i am going to sleep. i will be foruming again tomorow, at about 14:00 or 15:00. while i'm away it will show that i am still online. please, while i'm away check for some more solutions, causes for the error, and anything else you can find and post it. i will check it all out when i'm back, and i'l respond to it asap. thank you for your help, i wish you luck in finding out what's wrong. i hope you'l do your best. good night.

Greetings,

I see that you're using some security software on that computer. Have you tried disabling it temporarily? The problem you're describing seems very random and could be cause by malicious code like a virus, or even an anti-virus identifying our software as a possible virus. Disabling that software temporarily will let us know whether it's the latter, while a full file scan with that software will help disprove the former.

Also, we haven't received any kind of connection test info from you yet. I would suggest running the connection tests in the following thread so we can take a closer look at the problem:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=422516

i'm sorry about what i wrote in my former post, i just lost it. i love this game and it's killing me not being able to play it. i have tried disabling my computer's security a few days ago and it didnt work. i have tried the link you gave me but when i wrote the three commands as listed in that page, nothing worked. every time i pressed enter there was an "access denied" message. i suddenly have the same error with all my sony games: star wars galaxies (char load gets stuck and i'm back to char select), The Matrix Online (game is very slow, lots of delays, and lately it's just disconnecting a short time after i enter the game. a computer technician will visit me tomorow, so i'l let him check the problem, although i'm not sure he will be able to help with online games.

That should allow you to run the commands without getting the access denied message.
