Hello all hope you can help.So I tried the trial of EQ2 when the "Echoes of Fay" came out really enjoyed the zerker (I think?) I tried to level. I got him to the cap for the trial, and then logged into another toon to try it out (a mage of somesort). I loaded a Fay caster of somesort and immediately started having issues. I tried several things and finally resolved myself to just throwing in the towel and trudged unhappily back to Azeroth. (I was a die hard EQ1 player for about 5yrs, left and went to wow with co-workers).I missed Norrath and tried to come back through the RaR system, downloaded the game again, signed up with a station account and tried to log in again as an SK. Found it to be not as fun as I remembered (I played him for about an hour) and logged into a High Elf Illusionist. I made it through the Qeynos quests and went into the Oak forest and completed the first quest (the bug juice). Was walking to my next questm, aggroed something and died and the screen just froze completly. Hard reboot the system and came back alive, took a step forward and bang... hard froze. This time I gave the system a minute... the screen went a dark blue, hard rebooted again.Decided maybe it was glitch with that toon/etc. so I rolled a conj. Completed the first few quests and then bang... hard froze, same results.Decided to consult the web help and did the following (per Per TSR-JamesM):Deleted cacheeq2_recent.inieq_default.iniEverQuest2.exeeq2 .iniServername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSta tionname_characters.iniRebootedWent out and updated my video and sound driversUninstalled/Reinstalled Station (off chance it was something there)Had it filecheck the eq2 directoryChecked "Extended content"Played with video settings pre-char selectionetc.Wierdest thing is, I can create any char I want... it *HAS* to be a particles or sound issue...My setup:Dell Dim 510eATI x600 256mg6g RAMSo besides buying another computer, throwing myself in front of a bus in frustation, or *shudder* watching another stupid episode of "Dancing with the Stars" with my wife... what am I going to do?

So I understand that some people only feel that they are able to contribute to conversations by being 'editors', thank you for your most helpful and well thought out response.

I would hope that someone reading this would be able to assertain the spelling difference... for example, "256mg milligrams of Video ram? ouch" is obviously grammatically incorrect, but I am able to surmise that you are attempting to be funny. Good work.

Now on point -I'm unable to provide the dxdiag msinfo (I meant to save them online, but in my rush to work I forgot), typically (in my years of tech support) I was able to say "Okay, try this and this and this and this and this and maybe this too" even without all the information.

The system wouldn't reboot it's self I had to hard reboot (hold power button down/etc.)

Truthfully, I forgot to check eventid... I'll have to do that when I get home. My admin licenses should all be pulled... )

Anything else you could think of?

The interwebs is so full of people who feel that proving their ability to correct others is some surroget girlfriend or something... again if I misread I apologies.

Before I left for work this morning I uninstalled/rebooted/reinstalled... I'm hoping it is just some sort of bad file being called when there are spell particles. But honestly I'm not expecting it to work

I really think the issue might be with software... lets hope the reinstall worked.

The good news... if it happens to be a video card, maybe the wife'll let me upgrade it!

GL on it. Your card has all the power to run the game, but having it (screen) turn purple makes me think something is off. Best bet is also to uninstall the current video drivers, and reinstall the most current ones available.

A New card that will run the game great would only cost between $50-$120, and have more power then the x600.

Let us know how it works when you get home.
