Hi, I'm going from 32bit XP to 64bit Vista, and it wont let me upgrade so I have no choice but to reinstall everything. Is there anyway I can get EQ2 on my disc or 8GB flash drive so I dont have to wait 22 hours for it to install because I dont have the EQ2 disc. Just wondering if there is anyway I can get it on my 64 bit OS without having to install EQ2 all over again.

Many thxs

You can easily just copy out your everquest 2 directory to another HD or Thumbdrive. Just remember that eq is rather large (~11gb, correct me if i'm wrong). Then just copy it back once you've reinstalled. I did this when swapping to windows 7 and it worked fine.

Yup, just burn the folder or copy the whole directory to another HDD or partition ( which you should do anyways) Having your OS on a seperate Drive or partition makes it A LOT easier to fix OS problems with a format/reinstall and then not worrying about stuff on that same drive.

Ok I know how to make a partition but I DO NOT know how to get more unallocated space. I tried searching google, but its all about how to get RID of unallocated space. I have 11.74GB of unallocated space.

Doesnt it reformat everything when you uninstall XP and install Vista?

Yes it should, unless you made a boo boo when first partitioning

If you have the upgrade disk I think it gives you the option of upgrading rather than reinstalling. You might want to look into that.

If you have everything on one partion and format that partion everything gets wiped clean. You can play with fdisk and set up a new partion or find a commercial piece of software like partition magic to do it for you.

Personally I went with an even larger solution and bought a 750gb external drive that backsup my entire eq2 folder, then anytime I need to pull it to any machine I can just pull it down and be good to go in the time it takes to copy over.

Well I got EQ2 on a seperate partition. Bad news is I keep getting IRQ_NOT_LESS_EQUAL error which means I got to go back to my old ram 3GB because my mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...mpage%20formula doesnt support quad channel ram and my ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16820144236 is quad channel. So upgrading to 64 bit was a waste. Was looking at dual core 4GB ram, I could have saved a few dollars if I went that route. I guess I'll keep 8GB for another time when I feel like building another computer. Would be awesome if you could downgrade the quad channel and make it dual channel, I dont see why you cant do it, but hey I dont make the RAM. When I go into BIOS it says I have 8GB of ram so the BIOS reads it, but dumb IRQ_NOT_LESS_EQUAL error pops up before it after it finishes its windows loading screen. Dont understand how BIOS can read it but my computer thinks theres a issue and gives me BSOD.

Thanks for advice on making a new partition, I thought it formats everything but it doesnt. What I was asking for on the allocated and unallocated space was how do I make allocated space become unallocated space without making it all become unallocated space. Because I only have C:/ which is where all my space is and 12GB of unallocated space just enough to fit EQ2 on, would like to have fit more on but ehhh its okay.

However if anyone knows how to convert part of a allocated space to unallocated space I would like to know for future reference.
