Level 26 Spell Tainted Sacrament

<p>Hello,</p><p>I just started up Everquest 2 and have a newbie question regarding the SKs Level 26 spell, Tainted Sacrament. On every web site I visit it lists this spell as "Drags the souls of your victims from their final place of rest. They briefly fight for you and then disappear into nothingness. A shadowknight must have a tainted essence to use this spell."</p><p>The spell I have in game is a completely different spell. Am i missing something here or has this spell changed? Also the Level 24 spell, Tainted Caress, has never produced a tainted essence as it is supposed to. I saw one tip to not use Grim Harbinger and I tried that but still no essences. I have been using this spell non stop and am now level 29 so 5 entire levels and no essences.</p><p>Thanks in advance for any help!!!!</p>

<p>It changed.</p><p>I'm not sure about lower levels, but the highest version is now a fairly strong point blank AOE with strong threat attached.</p><p>Used to be a relatively low dammage temporary pet spell (that needed "fuel" to cast...tainted essenses, one of our other buffs had a proc chance to nab us an essense...which could be later cast as the temp pet that fought until killed or spell duration expired). That was years ago.</p><p>....its changed a few times since the original...from visuals, to range, to threat...to completely now.</p><p>I actually miss the "ghost hawk" version that actually held aggro and could take on even con mobs or lower hehe. The blob visual was umm...well, I wasn't fond of it. The skelly whose armor upgraded with quality levels was neat too. The vamp was decent enough looking.</p><p>I still have stacks of tainted essenses in my bank for nostalgia's sake, or still did last I checked anyway <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" /></p>

<p>I'm not sure what list you are looking at.  But all of the pet spells were changed into AE Damage + taunt abilities.  Very powerful and useful AE damage and taut abilities.</p><p>Tainted Essense haven't been needed in years. And they were only needed for the pet spell when they were in game.   First they removed the need for the essense for casting the pet, and in doing so removed the ability to get the essense as it was no longer needed.   Then in the last 6 months or so removed the pets entirely and added the much better AE damage and taunt.</p>
