Hi, returning templar here, I'm level 41 currently. I'm a bit out of touch of what I should be using for gear. What type of gear should I be looking for around my level? Both for soloing (dpsing) and for grouping (healing). Thanks in advance!

Just use mastercrafted and quest rewards and concentrate on dps gear and dps AA's.

You won't find a group until you hit 80 since it's faster AA wise and exp wise to soloquest.

There's not much better gear than the mastercrafted at your level. I'd wait till 42 and get mastercrafted, you may switch out a piece here and there as you do quests and get items. The quest items start to get halfway decent in the EOF quests, especially if you are doing steamfont and the dungeons in EOF. In ROK the quest items get really nice and you should pick up some very nice items.

In terms of groups you are looking for wis and heal amount, I don't think you will find much if any heal crit at your level. Procs are nice on equipment, especially group heal procs and power procs. For DPS it depends which dps route you went, melee will give you more DPS but requires much more AA put into it. A young cleric will find it much easier to get his spell DPS up faster in terms of AA. So I would say for now focus on your spell DPS (although you will hit some of the melee AA on the way) and go for int and spell damage items, also spell damage procs are nice. You will either have to balance heal and spell stats, or have 2 suits, one for dps the other for group healing. Also to maximize your melee get a 2 hander that has a delay as long as it takes you to cast a spell or 2. It doesn't have to be the longest delay as many on here advocate, but you need to do the math (or just use the auto attack timer) to see how long it takes to cast a nuke and incorporate that in your swing rhythym of your weapon.
