I am getting this fairly often. I zone (just now I did Call of the Overlord back to Big Bend on an alt). Instead I went to character select. If I try to get back into the game, I get a message that I already have a character playing, and to wait. I wait a bit, then can get back in to the game.

This is a new issue since the last big patch.

Crashing to character select is the classic connection issue indicator. Please contact us at the SOE help line. You can reach us Monday through Friday from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm PST, except holidays, at 1-858-537-0898.
Sorry for the delay, I thought the game had fixed itself. Everything on our computers was running fine again until today.

The issue appears to be with busier zones. West Freeport is causing issues logging in to any character located there. If we load characters in Thundering Steppes, Commonlands, etc we have no problem.

Twice now we have gotten an error message, but on most attempts it simply returns to character select after going through the usual "loading ..." text screens until it gets to "Connecting to zone server ..." and then quits fairly quickly to character select. If we immediately try to load that character it tells us we already have a character playing.

The error we got today popped up immediately after trying to enter the game from character select. The message was "Server did not respond in a timely manner and may be backlogged. Please try again in a few minutes". When we get that message it pops up very quickly, within a second. It seems like that particular timeout is set too low.

Eventually we do get in, and it isn't like we are always barred from entry to West Freeport (our main character hub). Just sometimes, and looking back it was mostly on weekends. Maybe the timeout values need some tweaking.

I tried again this morning (Monday), and got into West Freeport with no problem at all. We seem to be bumped out of the busier zones.

I just went into Darkblade Den of Assassins, a low level instance zone. Zoning took a long time but was moving along until it got to "Waiting for Zone Server", then stalled and has been sitting there for some time, and still is while I write this. Music stopped a while ago, Task Manage shows EQ2 as the only app up and is using 100% of CPU2, and 0% of CPU1, but the status was "Responding" so its still doing something.

After about 5 minutes it is now still 100% of CPU2, but it just went to "Not Responding" on task manager. I was in this instance about 5 minutes earlier and was just returning to it.
