Cant Play My Game?!

<p>Hey ive played before but lost the game but anyways<img src="/eq2/images/smilies/d6741711aa045b812616853b5507fd2a.gif" border="0" />.... I got a new <span style="text-decoration: underline;">EverQuest 2 Classic</span> game and loaded it right, well, when ever i open it and sign in the launcher <span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>(were it has all the selections with prefences and character select)</em></span> well it will always be Updating... and, well, when it ends the play button wont show up...... like it will say updating in shaded button instead of red.... is there something wrong with it? <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/0a4d7238daa496a758252d0a2b1a1384.gif" border="0" /></p><p>also is the game able to be played on a DELL INSPIRON w/ Windows Vista??? (could that be the problem?)<img src="/eq2/images/smilies/0a4d7238daa496a758252d0a2b1a1384.gif" border="0" /></p><p>comment back anytime plz <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/1cfd6e2a9a2c0cf8e74b49b35e2e46c7.gif" border="0" /></p>

<p>it didnt work... it still says updating in gray letters and i cant play...... like this is annoying</p>

<p>when i double click the shortcut the SOE loader comes up loads the game then the EverQuest 2 menu shows up? on the task bar it says EverQuest 2 LaunchPad</p>

In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.</p><p>4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"</p><p>5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.</p><p>6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.</p><p>7.Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".</p><p>8.Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"</p><p> You can also go to your EQ2 directory in Sony in C drive and follow the steps below:</p><p>1.Right click on the EQ2  folder.</p><p>2.Select the Security tab.</p><p>3.Highlight each account in the box on the top of the page one at a time.</p><p>4.In the lower box make certain that all of the check boxes are set for allow.</p><p>5.Do this for each account in the upper list.</p><p>6.Hit accept and close.</p>

<p>alright..... well ive done this before but when i went to back to double check the Run as Admin. was dimmed out? any reason behind it?</p>

<p>The "Run as Admin" being greyed out comes from not having appropriate administrative rights on your account in Vista. Most people that have a Vista box have only one log in and it is generally NOT the administrative log in. Please call the people that sold you the computer and have them walk you through logging in on the administrative account. Microsoft also has contact information and I hear that they have a slight web presence...</p><p>I cannot help you with their software. I am sorry. Anyhow the greyed out "Run as Admin" is a clear indication of a lack of rights on Vista.</p>
