The file path that you posted was to temp files. Are you running Vista? People who try to down load on Vista with out proper permissions generally have the entirte down load go in to temperary internet files and then get deleted once the down load is done. Vista won't allow you to down load files into a real directory if you don't have permission. So you on Vista?

If not I am sorry to waste your time. If you are do this:

1.Right click on the program launch icon

2. Left click on "Properties".

3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.

4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.

6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.

7.Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".

8.Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

You can also go to your EQ2 directory in Sony in C drive and follow the steps below:

1.Right click on the EQ2 folder.

2.Select the Security tab.

3.Highlight each account in the box on the top of the page one at a time.

4.In the lower box make certain that all of the check boxes are set for allow.

5.Do this for each account in the upper list.

6.Hit accept and close.

I just got the same sort of error with the launchpad, for a different file: eq2_default.ini - also in the lp_temp directory.

1) Don't ask, yes it's running as administrator.

2) I deleted the file and the temp file (I cleared the whole temp directory). I also re-downloaded and installed the launchpad.

3) I gave up and went to the eq2.exe launcher which is a shame because

a) The launchpad I could flag as "run as administrator" and it would launch and ask for permission.

b) The launcher doesn't do that... it just launches. I have to right click and Run as Administrator, despite the "run as administrator' option being checked in the file's properties.

Yes, it's Vista.

Update: After running the "old" launcher, I was able to fire up the launchpad and have it check the file successfully.
