Alright, so i have been trying to figure this out for a few days now, and its really starting to test my nerves and i'm about to just give up, but anyway...

Let me first say that EQ2 works perfectly fine at my house. I can connect to the patching server, update, and play the game normally. Now recently i came back to my dorm in which i have to obviously use my university's ISP, and now i am unable to connect to the patching server, both through the SOE patcher and normally through an HTTP address bar.

Here are my trace route results:

C:UsersAdam>tracert lpconfig.patch.station.sony.comTracing route to lpconfig.patch.station.sony.com [64.37.129.35]over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms gwb-064-079-ald6600b.cns.ohiou.edu [64.247.79.253] 2 <1 ms <1 ms 1 ms 132.235.195.14 3 * * * Request timed out. 4 * * * Request timed out. 5 *

Now as you can see, i have issolated the problem to be that my campus router seems to be blocking my connection. I called the campus service desk to try to get a port open or someother way to solve this problem, and they simply seemed to shrug it off and tell me to try and download it manually or from a friend. That is unacceptable... and I may have to call them back and cause some problems for these people if there is anything i can do.

Was wondering what you guys may suggest i do. I have come to the conclusion that all of this may be solved most easily if i could someway download the patches and updates either from another website or to somehow run a proxy on my computer in order for the patcher to be able to connect. Unfortunately, i know very little about proxies, specifically trying to get the SOE updater/patcher to run under one(a proxy), and any help in that department would be awesome!

Wanted to say one more thing. Before the patch on the 31'st, i was able to play the game by skipping the SOE updater by using the Everquest2.exe application. So, in all actuality, i just need a way to update the game in order to play. It seems like my campus blocks the patcher (likely because is has P2P activity) but not the actual game.

This is such crap...

Thanks for any help...

Nevermind.. thought i was on to something. Turned out i was wrong.. hah. Been trying to use .pac files and setting up my own proxies. It does not seem to be working. I also have come across this Tor program: https://www.torproject.org/index.html.en

been trying to see if that work, but so far no luck

Any help would be appreciated...

Contact the school nmetwrok administrator and speak to them concerning the firewall and modifying it to allow you to play eq2. All the ports and IP subnets needed to run the game are listed in the knowledge base here.

Sysops for campus networks and businesss tend to frown on students/employees attempting to bypass network firewall rules, might want to talk to them instead

Greetings,

I'm not sure if you're still having trouble with this issue, but here is the information that the network team will ask for to open the ports:

EverQuest II LaunchPad and Patch Servers A TCP connection is initiated from the LaunchPad client port > 1023 to patch.station.sony.com port 7000. A UDP connection is initiated from the LaunchPad client port > 1023 to sdlaunchpad1.station.sony.com and sdlaunchpad2.station.sony.com port range 3016-3021 and 9700-9703.EverQuest II Patch:A TCP connection is initiated from the EverQuest II client port > 1023 to patch.everquest2.com, abepatch.everquest2.com, laepatch.everquest2.com, or amspatch.everquest2.com at port 7010. Some of the above patchers resolve to multiple IP addresses, so if you have a strict outbound firewalling policy, be sure to check for all IP addresses using a DNS lookup tool.EverQuest II Game Client:UDP connections are initiated from the EverQuest II client port >1023 to servers on UDP ports 9100, and UDP ports in the range 32800-33000. Additionally, ICMP messages type 0 (echo reply), 3 (unreachable), 8 (echo request) and 11 (expired) should be permitted bi-directionally between the client PC and the EverQuest II servers.EverQuest II Servers Subnets:There are multiple IP addresses for the Patch and LaunchPad clusters, and they may change as the network demands, so check often using a DNS lookup tool if you provide a specific firewall rule for these services. The EverQuest II server IP addresses are currently in these subnets: 64.37.158.*, 199.108.11.*, 199.108.12.*, 199.108.13.*, 199.108.202.*, 199.108.203.*, 195.33.135.*
