It's 6:55 AM, my wife is hogging the entire bed, my one-year-old son is refusing to go to sleep, and to top it all off, I've been trying since 7 PM yesterday to play Everquest 2. I'm having a really, really bad night. What happens is this: whenever I start the latest update, the patcher scans my system and starts the patch from the beginning. It does this every time I start it again, regardless of the fact that it's re-downloading files already current and present in the PAKS folder it is downloading to. Worse, whenever it reaches a certain file (such as Char_ACC1.vpk), it fails to download and instead cancels itself. As I click, again and again, the white "download" button to force it to pick back up, it keeps going through the same cycle, sometimes picking a different file, but inevitably getting nowhere and failing to finish the patch. Worst of all, whenever I attempt to fix the problem by restarting the patcher, it merrily infuriates me by restarting the entire hour-long patch again. I'm losing my mind. Of course, someone will want my system specs, so here they are: Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz Memory: 2048MB RAM Page File: 598MB used, 3341MB available Windows Dir: C:WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.5512 32bit Unicode Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce 6600 Display Memory: 256.0 MB Driver Version: 6.14.0011.8206 (English) Description: Realtek AC97 Audio Driver Version: 5.10.0000.6300 (English) Someone. Anyone. Help. EDIT: Yes, before anyone asks, there are no firewalls active on my system. I've also deactivated my antivirus (actually, I deleted the [Removed for Content] thing after it interfered with installed EQ2 for the nth time). I've never had problems patching before, anyway.

No offense, really, to the tech support guys at SOE, but they really are quite useless sometimes. I got a lot of very generic responses to my request for assistance, and it took a lot of trial and error before, thank God, I was able to finally figure out how to fix this issue. The problem seems to be with the patcher attempting to download a file that already exists. In my case it was fortunately smaller files, and what I had to do was delete the already existing file so that the patcher could continue. And it did. Perhaps this is not an exclusive fix, but it worked for me.
