View Full Version : Aiden encounter in the new x2

Beat this earlier today, and it took a much stronger group than I was expecting to do it, with the zone being tuned towards more casual, non mythical'd type characters. I would have a small suggestion that when Aiden flies to add in say, a 10 second delay to the first adds spawning, to give groups without very good dps more leeway in dealing with the fight. Think it would just put more of an emphasis on the mechanics of the fight rather than overwhelming force. Fight isn't all that bad but I have a hard time seeing guys in tier 2 shard armor with fabled epics doing okay on it.

This zone is definately not for casual guilds/players in heroic instance obtained gear.

I agree this zone isnot for t2 shard no mythical players. Had severl mobs that would have distroyed no fabled groups.

From what i gather for the last named the people that get ported mine the rock, then jump into the dust devil type fire tornado in the lava pit bounce back to the named and place the rock inside the portal. IMO there isnt enough time from getting ported to placeing the rocks before the waves of adds come.

We where thinkign that you just dont dps the named cause it s a %hp that triggers the adds, but we didnt get to test it. and just let people keep getting ported and blocking the portals.

A few suggestions for this fight.

1. dont spawn people right into lava when they port.

2. make the dust devil bouncy spring things visualy larger, its a long way down and i cant see them very well.

3. can someone confirm that he spawns the adds at a % mark and that its not timed.

If its simply a matter of not dmging the mob before people can place the rocks this fight is realy easy, but if you are intended to fight 20+ heroic mobs at once i dotn see any t2 armor players surviving.

it is timed, every couple of minutes. he does his "get away from me!" and the other port emote (can't recall what it is) and once he's passed those two he's ready to spawn some adds...

killed him last night and his head is now proudly displayed in our guild hall (yay trophy heads! finally!) but i don't know what kind of amazing group w/out myths and in legendary gear would be able to take this zone down...

Or are you saying that the final boss of the x2 zone can only be killed after the target audience has repeatedly farmed it in the past?

Even just these few upgrades may be enough to kill the next mob.

With absolutly no raid gear at all, a raid of 12 competant players can expect to kill half of this zone on their first trip in, with the remaining half having clear progression. ! of the next two mobs requires SE DPS that is able to be reached with items from this zone, the other requires a sound stratagy and a very good execution of that stratagy (aka, practise). After that, its all about gearing up for the last mob.

How do you get pass "Digg" the earth named? couldn't find the purpose of the snake, mushroom and badger statues, most times people died trying to get them close to the mob.

He calls out one of the three. Pretty intuitive after that.

We had trouble on Digg too. We could see him asking for mushroom/badger/snake etc and assummed we needed to go collect these from the gold discs (over the platforms you pop with the gold bars). The thing is they didnt seem to do anything when we brought them back - any clues please?. We did notice that he only appears to say snake at 60% health and that seems to trigger him healing himself. Staying alive wasnt a problem, it was his healing at 60% each time that was the problem.

As a hardcore raider, this zone fairly easy, but I sure had a fun time doing it! The little holo projections near each raid encounter with explanations on how to kill the raid mobs (you will not find that in x4 instances) along with pop culture refrences are cute. We were able to ignore most of the scripting even on Aiden, except for Digg and just plow through with straight DPS. Aidien does spawn a lot of adds, which while it was not difficult to kill them all, it was a surprise to see so many!

The zone does scale in diffuculty the further you go and SOE was wise to make it progressivly harder, casual raiders pickups should not be able to clear the zone on the first try, what fun would that be!? It looks like it's designed as the further you go in, the more critical mit you will need, the more strat you need. You may only need T2 armor for the first couple of named mobs, but as you go further you will need the raid gear provided in the zone.

One thing that was kind of irritating is that there are a lot of Adept 1's pop in the chests, I would suggest that these be removed or Masters be added to the loot table, it doesn't need to be 2 masters, maybe just a chance at masters, in the end it obtaining masters would help the raid force SOE is targeting.

The lock out is kind of steep, at 5 days, but It may take several days for a casual raid force to kill a few named, reset and then continue to farm them.

Overall I think it's a nice zone and we'll continue to farm it for some of the fabled gear and other trinkets that are sprinkled in. As an Inquisitor, I am going to continue to farm for the Obsidian shared plate set, that way I will have a raid quality set for DPS and my T4 set for healing.

I can imagine casual groups having issues with Digg, but he's mostly about sound and careful execution of a solid strategy, and I think that with a bit of work folks will be able to do him just fine, even in T2 shard gear.

As for Aiden, he's definetely hard, and since the add event is on a timer, not based on a hp%, this fight is largely a dps check. Its a lot easier just to overwhelm him and get him down after one, maybe two add events tops. I feel that progression here is a good plan, and that gearing up for him with the T3 shard gear is completely appropriate. However, I do think that the timing on Aiden is extremely harsh. Keep in mind that you're almost always in combat with the banishment, so the hover wears off oftentimes before you make it to one of the flames to bump you up. That kind of thing you figure out with practice, but even if you do it perfectly you've got a high probability of not making it back before the adds start coming.

I would suggest making the timer just a little bit longer between banishment and the add event, and adding in about 5 seconds or so before the adds start swarming once the portals go active--at least if you want this doable by people that don't raid T4 regularly.

My feeling is that they just need to add a brief delay after he flies and the beams/portals go active before the adds spawn, to allow someone to prevent them. As is, even sprinting around and never getting hit with the knockback, you'll probably have a lot of them. It's pretty trivial to tank if your tank has, say, a Ring of Repulsion, but it's a little silly to expect groups of casuals to have that. Though, frankly, Byzola is probably easier than Aiden is, so you could make the argument they should 2 group Hate to gear up. Aside from the slight tuning problem, the only mechanic that really doesn't work well is the port - healers/pet classes are still locked, so don't have out of combat runspeed and so on. You can sprint to hit the flame whirls and get tossed, but a lot of people wouldn't think of that. Probably should add 40% in-combat runspeed to the hover buff you get for classes that get locked, since it'd just mirror out-of-combat runspeed otherwise.

Dunkitty - As far as Digg goes, the mechanics can be a little messy. He calls out the name of the object you need to pick up - badger is east, mushroom is north, snake is west. You click the switch to that direction, and that brings up the bridge and spawns the object. You pick up the object and drop it by him. However, the object is tied to the switch/bridge. If another switch is clicked, it seemed to despawn and you're screwed. You probably had people getting confused and clicking multiple switches or something. Cute fight, though.

We went and grabbed all of them. So, just pickup the snake when he calls it and drop it right by him? That stops him healing himself at 60%?

The lock out for this zone is special olimpics. Its almost as long as x4 zones, just seems silly if you can get the people together you should be able to do it every 48 hours, 4-5 days before you can reset is silly.,

personally, this zone is fine for just about any group of decently geared T2/epic weapon group. the real challenge here wasnt the difficulty, but figuring out how to do some of the bosses.

after having done the entire zone, now looking back, I can honestly say I could do just fine in my alt guild, raiding this too without my raid gear from my main.

learning the zone is the hardest part.

my only complaint about the zone so far, is for a X2 zone, it makes no sense why theres a 4 day lock out on it.

thats extremely excessive, given that its not a full raid zone. at that pace it will take even a dedicated group of 12 months to get full armor sets outta there. I mean, the entire point of this zone, was to give lower end guilds a place to start gearing up for X4 raid zones right? so why make them take forever to be able to get ok geared?

No matter how many times I try on Aiden. When I am banished I never get bounced high enough to make it back on the tower. No matter how many times I bounce off the vortexs. Best height I get is around 2/3 the height of the tower. I'm and Iksar so have no racial hover and have no hover items.
