My wife and I just returned to EQ2 after several years of trying competing products and we really like the changes in EQ2! With that being said, my wife has been playing a pallie and I created a troubadour both lvl 22 right now. Our game play is mostly centered around quests, though I enjoy a good dungeon run every now and then. We will eventually run occasional raids with our guild but that won't be for a while. With that info, here's my question: Would we be better off with me playing a different class? I have an illusionist I could dust off, a ranger and a fury. Which class would help the most for dungeon runs? Should I make a new char? I appreciate the feedback!

As the usual answer, play what you enjoy

That being said starting groups with a tank/healer (i.e. fury) would be much easier than having to find a healer every time. For questing though, you two should be fine with whatever class combos you pick (as long as the quests aren't herioc).

Thanks for the answer. We are doing well with our current classes but I guess I am focusing more on instances/dungeons. We are currently capable of killing named mobs that are green and we've almost outleveled the dungeons.

Is there a class I could play that could improve our chances/ability to better handle these bosses?

a troub is good, but you could prob kill more with a more dps oriented class, or a melee specced healer.

A coercer would be a nice addition, or that illy that you have (enchanter dps has been increased a lot)

I think a paladin and a bard are a great combo for questing, and a good combo for groups also. There are actually quite a few healers around. Finding the healer is often easier than finding a good tank.

The bard's speed buffs would make life outside of grouping faster, and dps doesn't matter all that much in a small group doing solo content or even lower level heroic content.

Yes in the end the most 'effective' duo in terms of the difficulty of mobs you could handle would probably be a healer/tank but it doesn't mean you'd enjoy it the most.

From some of the research I've done I am thinking of getting my Fury back out though I don't know if we'll be lacking on the DPS side.

It seems that, if I want to play a troub most effectively, I will need to actively manage the songs and my playstyle may be a bit too lazy for that. That also means that the illusionist might be a little too busy for me, if I remember the class right.

Any idea on how DPS between Fury and Troub might compare? Any other classes I should consider (warden maybe)?

OH, I should point out that my wife is a bit anti-social which means that its usually only the two of us. This is why it is important to find a class that I can play that provides the best odds in instances.
