My level 71 guardian is in MC gear with a couple of Fabled. I use to have no problem killing blue level 69 Yetti an Di'vok. Today I died 3 times soloing blues I previously had no problem with. Did they change the Guardian stats and not tell us? I cancelled my acount today.

In EQ 1 before there were any expansions I played a ranger. They killed the rangers and after a 10 years haven't fixed it. So in EQ 2 I chose a Guardian. Have they now killed Guardians?

Why can't they have a set of spells/abillities for solo and one for grouping. So all can solo and group regardless of your choice of Class?

Are they trying to kill the game for everyone who isn't a full time raid oriented player?

No, there haven't been any changes to guardians in the last few days. You're simply the victim of a short run of bad luck on the RNG. It happens. Some days you get the good rolls, sometimes the mobs do. Some days my wizard can't get a root to stick to save her life, other days she can land every DOT she's got on the mobs and the root won't break.

If having one bad day is enough to make you quit the game, you may want to reconsider your perspective on life.

If you could do it last week then you just had a bad day. Happens to all of us. AS for abilities for solo only...not going to ahppen you can of course mitigate the problems by using an AA mirror, get one solo build and one group build, but this game is an MMO and some classes (Guards are one of them) clearly shine more in groups than alone. A little research and you can pick a class that truly excells at solo too.

Seems to me that you chose a class without actually researching what its strength and weakness were. Thats not SOE's fault but yours. This game is an MMO (which encourages grouping) with 24 classes. As such all classes have strengths and weaknesses. If you do the proper research on class and AA's you can find a class that fits your bill for any type of play. If you insist on rolling a class even if it is not optimized for the style of play you prefer, expect speed bumbs. If you can't deal with speed bumbs in a video game that you created then Jrral has it right too.

At lvl 71, you had MC armor that was still xegonite, 72 you get new MC gear that is more than capable of soloing the mobs in RoK. Mobs have hit much harder in RoK expansion and I remember how hard it was for my guard. Sometimes they do get kucky and have debuffs that can cause you to drop HP very quickly. But if you cancelled your account, none of this really makes any difference and don't know why you made a post about it. Informing them on the survey should have sufficed.

As far as people saying that SoE pushes for group content, RoK was not meant for grouping between lvl 70-80. Sure, it had its group content with chardok, sebilis and KC, but thats hardly anything compared to how much group content there was before. It was a total waste of xp to group to grind out soloable quests and most didn't unless with bestest of friends or couples. And even now, a lot of that group content has been changed to solo mobs. So, yes this is a MMO, but that doesn't mean its all about grouping anymore.

And after you cancelled you decided to come here and ask if something had been changed? .... yes they ninja nerfed all non raiding guardians to suck.. I guess that is the answer you are looking for /boggle

I see no difference soloing or grouping. That is pretty quick of you to cancel just because of bad luck. Anyway, hope you have a good time away from EQ2. Maybe thats what ya need instead.

BriBri wrote:

Why can't they have a set of spells/abillities for solo and one for grouping. That's why most plate tanks, not just Guardians, carry around at least two sets of gear with them, so they can swap in and out as needed. The differentiation that you're looking for already exists, it's just with gear, not your combat arts.

As others have said, you may just have had a run of bad luck with the random number generator. If you consistently have a problem with lower con mobs, then the issue isn't the class, it's your gear and spec. As mentioned, post a link to your toon on EQ2Players and people would be able to give you specific advice on what you can do to improve. Or not.

A big thank you to those who gave the constructive criticism. I have no idea how to post a link to my character.

My toons name is Polly on Blackburrow.

I'm still not clear on whether or not they actually nerfed the Guardians?

The gear she has is the only gear I have. She has 81 AA points. I would love to continue playing this game. I have been a casual player of EQ, on and off for almost 10 years. I figure that counts towards not tossing in the towel at the first sign of trouble.

I have no idea where to get any other gear, since I don't raid. The only raids I've been invited to were canceled. So in 10 years of playing I have never been in a raid, partly because of raid times and work schedule conflicting, and partly because my toon was always too low a level for guild raids. Yes please do flame me for being clueless as to holding my own raid.

Any advice even some flaming would be welcome

Thanks to those who responded

At 71 it was frustrating. I had trouble with blue con solos. However once I dinged 72 and bought MC gear it became quite doable. It is a huge jump from gear designed an expansion earlier (62MC) to the 72 version.

Keep an eye out for mid 70s legendary armor on the broker. On my server the broker is flooded with cheap plate armor that is significantly better than the MC. Also, most solo questlines in ROK award very nice legendary pieces upon their conclusion.

Trust me, my guardian is and never was very "uber". I had no problems after 72 with any of the solo content, and you shouldn't either.

Goodluck.
