So, my roomate finallly talked me into trying EQ2, we both loved EQ1 back in highschool, but when EQ2 was first realeased it was so bad we were immediately turned off by it. Now though it seems as if there has been a rebirth, and with COH's getting stale, warhammer online making me laugh, and wow just not cutting it, it seems as if EQ2 may be the next big thing in the apartment.

I do have a few questions though, that i can't seem to find an answer on.

1) can you resize the target window (the window that shows the life/buff/debuff's of your current target), I can't seem to make that larger at all.

2) is ther anway to increase the actual size of a window, I mean I can drag to fram larger on most, but other than MY own health bar, it has little to no effect on ICON size, which is very annoying. as it is I can't make heads or tails of buffs/debuffs on my targets or even on my self. Again I can drag the black border (f10, unlock, disable click trhough) and reisize, but it has no effect on the graphical size of the display, seems only to make the border larger. I did find a way to increase icon size on my skill bar though thank god lol.

3) Can you reshape your additional skill bars, I would like to have a 3 by 3 row for pots that I can place to the left side of my screen, but I cant seem to reshape the bar, only make it vertical or horizontal.

4) Can you switch from a PVE server to a PVP server with the paid transfer. Ive alwasy been a fan of PVP, but would like to lvl my first toon in pve, to both enjoy the game mroe, and learn the ropes.

5) What class would you recommend for two man teaming with a guardian?

6) last but not least, I LOVE my Monk, lvl 28 (still a lowbie) but the animations really made me happy. I re-rolled to Evil and tried a bruiser, im only lvl 10, but dear god its night and day, the animations look like utter crap on the bruiser, does he eventually start doing martial arts style attacks with bow staff's or punches, or is it like this for the entire game (if so its a breaking point for the bruiser) not a big deal there are plenty of class's to choose from, just want to know now before I invest too much time.

7) I lied one more. Does it matter much late game if you are good or evil. I mean can you still raid together with your friends if you are of different allignments. What are the limitations if so.

Again thanks for the answers in advance. Hope it wasnt too much trouble

But I didn't use the standard UI for long, so I can't say you how to do it. I am using Profit Reborn UI (along with probably half of the player base), where it's quite simple (EDIT: you can get it at eq2interface.com).

Tinygod wrote:

3) Can you reshape your additional skill bars, I would like to have a 3 by 3 row for pots that I can place to the left side of my screen, but I cant seem to reshape the bar, only make it vertical or horizontal.

Can't make them 3x3 as it's 12 buttons on the bar, can make 3x4 or 4x3 or 2x6 or 6x2, however.

Tinygod wrote:

4) Can you switch from a PVE server to a PVP server with the paid transfer. Ive alwasy been a fan of PVP, but would like to lvl my first toon in pve, to both enjoy the game mroe, and learn the ropes.

No.

Tinygod wrote:

5) What class would you recommend for two man teaming with a guardian?

Guardians are good tanks, but can't do damage for toffee (shut already up, all you raid equipped guards ). So prepare for long kill times on tough targets. Best counterpart is probably a healer, who can dish out some dps. Fury comes to mind here, warden works too.

Tinygod wrote:

7) I lied one more. Does it matter much late game if you are good or evil. I mean can you still raid together with your friends if you are of different allignments. What are the limitations if so.

If you're on a PvE server, yes. Alignment doesn't matter. On a PvP server you can't raid with them, you raid them. There's also Exile (kind of neither, nor), can't help you with that as I'm not on PvP.

They usually make only a marginal difference and I never have seen anybody denied because of their race, but I can't speak for everyone. Best do some research here.

I'll answer the few I know about at the moment, I'm at work so cant check for the target window re-sizing

3. Yes you can reshape your hotbars, so you can get a 3x4 box, make sure the window youre changing is unlocked first and then you change both the width and height, try using the corner to resize it.

4. No, you cant ever transfer between a PvP and PvE servers (either way).

7. If youre on a PvE server, allignment means very litttle apart from the fact you have to be careful going thorugh cities of the opposite allignment, cos the guards may decide to kill you. On PvP it makes alot mroe difference (which I wont go into, cos I dont know all teh things it affects).

8. Race doesnt really matter at all past level 10, it might make a very small difference if your a complete min-maxer, but otherwise it doesnt really make a difference, eg. for example a mage at level 80, if youve got int of 1000+, that extra 5-15 (cant remember exact numbers, but its something like that) int points you got for being an erudite over being a troll doesnt really make a difference

And welcome, and enjoy your stay

In PvE you can easily get away with running around in crappy gear with crappy versions of your spells...PvP is MUCH more demanding. If you wanto be able to compete you have to have the best gear/spells/AA at all times. That is doable, even for new players, you just have to invest some time in getting plat/rares/aa so you can be on par with other players. When I first started on pvp I spent the first week harvesting/crafting before even attempting pvp. Though it was a little boring in the beginning..it was much more enjoyable than going out there with quested gear/apprentice I spells and getting killed over and over.

Apart from that PvP can be frustrating at times, but I will say, the times that it is fun far outweigh those...I switched from PvE to PvP after 2 years, and now I've been on PvP almost a year...and I would never go back...

A couple of helpful tips on rearranging toolbars and windows...

Hit F10. It's a three-way toggle. Default is your usual view, hit F10 once and it shows black backgrounds on all windows. F10 again to remove all text and windows (i.e., for a screenshot). Hit F10 a third time and you are back to the start. If the backgrounds are black, it makes it much easier to see the window edges for dragging.

Make sure windows are unlocked and not click-through if you want to work with them. You may need to right-click and choose Window Options or Unlock.

On hotbars, right-click to get hotbar options. This allows you to set several items, such as the button size, spacing bewteen buttons, whether the spinner shows, and so on. Hotbars also have lock/unlock. Once you get a hotbar the way you want it, lock it so you don't accidentally drag stuff off it when you do not want to!

DON'T DO IT! You had it right the first time. EQ 2 is still in beta all these years later. As proof look in the Summoners /Neco/Conj and other class forums.. even now SOE is planning on a MAJOR update to the classes. They did not take ANY lf the lessions learned from EQ 1 to EQ2. As as result the game is a water down sad pitful mockery of the former KING of MMO's.
