Whats a good race for cleric?

Most Clerics I know play big gross races that look like they would be able to wield big bad hammers. Every race beside Frogloks would be OK. Anyone that plays a jumping lunch in a can should be annihilated.

erudite for 5% spell haste, you want looks use an illuison

I picked Arasi, but I started to get tired of the wings.

I asked in the global Inq channel and they said there was no racial tradition so OP that it was worth rerolling for.

I really did NOT want to reroll, so I was glad to hear this.

Just grab the Dark Elf mask or one of those clicky eyes for an illusion.

Actually a VERY good race for an inquis that is going to DPS would be Half Elf or Kerran, they both get an attack that debuffs mit by 916 and deals decent damage at 80.

There isn't a "the best race".

Why not barbarian (they rocks), they get an additional CA (knockback/stun) and a permanent 5% increase in runspeed (they can also run at 100% speed for a few seconds... (as long as they have power).

But like others said, there is no "right or wrong" race really.

Race doesn't matter much, unless you are on a PVP server.

Some people will say I am wrong and race still doesn't matter but...

Arasai/Fae in my opinion would be superior for PVP server due to +5% movement speed, Glide (can jump over gaps and water spots to move place to place faster), no fall damage (you can jump off a cliff to get away from an attack and other people cant follow without falling to their death or being injured doing so), and lastly very small size (small size is good for PVP).

Superior PVP races are present, Ogre/Barbarian/Half-Elf/Kerran all make excellent Clerics... and I made a [Removed for Content] Sarnak.

Ogre, Instant cast knockback 1 min recast, 10s stun immunity 5 min recast, 10% increase to sprint speed

Barbarian: 0.5 cast knockback 1 min recast, a sprint that increases your runspeed by 10% every tick or half-tick can't remember always maxes at 100%, decent 30% health defensive buff, too bad clerics avoidance sucks badly.

Half-Elf: 0.5 cast mitigation debuff 916 at 80 (in hindsight Kerran is better lol)

Kerran: 0.5 cast mitigation debuff 916 @ 80, 50% temp run speed, 15% stealth run speed.

I have an ogress! Being able to see over the heads of everyone help for healing the lil guys. Also you get great Ogress looks, a stun, a nice stun immunity which can prove invaluable at times. The only disadvantage is knowing that some evil folks out there are looking at me as a SOGAre.. Please people SOGA for everything else just NOT for ogres!

Kerran is what I chose. As an inquisitor I like the extra racial melee buffs. Especially, that claw attack that reduces the target's mitigation. That comes in really handy.

Speed and glide and no fall damage are all advantage. This is not jut for avoiding PVP. It is for being able to catch the person who takes off running. You get jumped by groups no matter how good you think you are, that you cannot possibly take down, it just happens. Being able to escape from them is a good thing. Being able to catch someone trying to escape is also a good thing.

I also agree that Kerran is a very good race.

Kerrans and Barbarians get a racial speed boost, too. For Barbarians its a permanent +5% that stacks with other run speed buffs. Whereas other races its only temporary (I may be wrong on that - no time to look it up just now).

For pure healing I'd say an inquisitor is a good choice because of the 5% spell casting speed. Many races get a 2% to their heal crit (frogloks, barbarians, high elves I think).

Humans are good for the extra skills they get (+7 to crushing skill, ministration, and I think defense) the human only soothe spell is also an often overlooked benefit.

That is clerical lvl 10 spell ... both does the exact thing, so why in norrath would you want to be a human cleric? Although the human spell is on a 3min recast timer and with only 30s duration, while the clerical one is on 10s recast timer (1min duration)

Plus you can use both the cleric spell and the human spell and have 2 things soothed at the same time, could be useful in certain situations.

Most people don't even remember they still have soothe in their spellbook so I'm not suprised at someone disagreeing with me. The extra skills humans get are very nice especially at lower levels before an inquisitor gets the battle cleric ability. You'll notice a big difference in the frequency you land attacks.

Halfling definetly.Start with decent wisdom, +3% max HP+5 Wis2% Heal Crit +5 MinistrationA decent single target attack useful for melee Inquisitors.Though I'd advise using SOGA or you're forced to look like a little ball of dough...

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Character_Race

this is a reference if you want to compare them yourself. I usually open a new web tab for each race that I am considering. Then I look over the racials, give it some thought, and gradually close the tabs until I'm left with my final race selection.

Arasai TBH...

Especially on a PVP server.

50% run boost is invaluable for both PVP and PVE... glide, perma safe fall, run speed, all great

the kicker is the temp boost.. The 30 seconds of 10% casting speed bonus, 5% melee and spell crit... 10% boost to casting is pretty substantial, coupled with the run speed, which is great for if you have PVP running FROM you, you can catch em, root em, stun em, fear em, mez em and let the rest of your slow friends who picked the other races catch up to you and blow em up with you...
