With the Dev Chat in March, something is cooking inside of SoE Headquarters

"Aesthetics-Dragowulf: Right now the Evil side is up one more race/city than the Good side. Is there any plans on giving the good side another race/city to once again attain balance?

Kaitheel: The future holds another good aligned city for Norrath, yes. You may start guessing, now!"

Let's discuss from the point that Lore, what another good aligned city would be?

I can only think off hand of three possibilities.

Halas, Thurgadin, or Erudin.

if we're taking Xpac/major cities. and since there's an ice dragon we'll supposedly be seeing more of, and if the city comes before the xpansion, I'd put my money on Halas.

You can see halas remnants at the bottom of everfrost waters next to permafrost.

Nor do we know who is living there. Might be the barbarians, or maybe something else.

Either Thurgadin or Erudin have my vote, depending on if we're seeing a Velious or Odus expansion.

It kind of puzzles me that Erudin would be a strictly "Good" city though, seeing has how the Heretics and the Erudins seem to have united (thus the Quellithulians). Not to mention Erudites are a neutral race, and already start in three cities (Freeport, Qeynos, Gorowyn).

And considering Velious apparently melted, and Thurgadin is an ice city, it's unlikely it survived the thawing. However it would make sense for it to be a "good" city, since Dwarves are right at home there. Though I'm not sure you could convince Halflings, Frogloks, or Fae to want to move there due to the cold climate. Not sure many Elves would want to live there either. Humans and Barbarians, who are both quite adaptable, could handle it. And Gnomes...well gnomes go wherever they want to anyway. But the latter three races are neutral races, and not inherently good nor evil (not to mention all three mentioned races already start in three cities anyway).

Yeah...with that logic, halas would be out too...seeing as Barbarians are nuetral, and they already start in...2? cities...but its supposed to be good SO thats out too, what would halas be without barbarians haha...plus...they wouldnt have a newbie zone...

It might be a completely new city for all we know lol

Perhaps Tearfall? - mentioned in the Erollisi day quests 2009. The lore of Erollisi day seemed alot stronger this year (yes the quests and celebrations do get bigger each year ), however it sounds like it could be nice - perhaps as someone mentioned recently it could be Tearfall, city of love? (as opposition to neriak). Sony do like balance

Erudin I can see being Neutral Good, with a strong emphasis on Neutral. Erudites have never been very welcome of other races. They just choose to practice forms of magic that are generally accepted more by the general populace.

I'd rather see Erudin placed as a good city go to into an expansion ALONG WITH Paineel for evils. 2 for the price of one.

Thurgadin... while they are dwarves and don't have too many issues with outsiders, I don't see Velious being a newbie friendly area.

Tearfall: I'm gonna dismiss this one as being out of the question. We had to prove ourselves worthy of the Sisterhood's Trust. There's no possible way that they would allow men to live in thier city or be born there without being given away to other locations.

It was stated previously that Hallas still exists and have moved from where it was previously, making a 'warmer' version of Hallas a possibility. Given the current lack of starting locations for some good races, Froglok and Halfling spring to mind, there would be logic in a new good-neutral city that addresses this imbalance.

I can't believe I'm chiming in here, but wasn't there a good outpost on Kunark in EQ? Is that too far fetched to have become a full fledged city?
