I'm wondering if the heal from Deathly Lifetap (the T1/T2 shard armor 3 piece bonus) is a true lifetap where the heal scales with the damage. If so, soloers will get a benefit from casting Bound on all incoming mobs, since the lifetap is magic damage. The debuff from Bound will mean greater damage on the lifetap and therefore a bigger heal.

Has anyone done extensive parsing on this?

The same would also apply to Act of Survival (if you have the Survival Accord charm for Magic damage -> heal ) although this was a much, much smaller amount of damage to heal in my parse sample; also would apply to Vampiric pith for damage only (divine damage).

ACT to the rescue! I was in JW for a long time working on my hammer, so I looked at my parses. It actually didn't take very long, once I looked in the right spot. Look at the top node for a zone you've been hunting for a long time (ALL), expand that and find your character name, expand that and then expand All Outgoing (Ref). Look for Deathly Lifetap and you will quickly see from the chart that it's not an actual lifetap. Heal varies quite greatly in relation to damage out.

It is, however, magic damage, so while your health won't be affected by using Bound on incoming mobs, you can still get better damage from Deathly Lifetap by debuffing. If you are soloing or pulling for a small group, it will also give you time to get off one or two more TW strikes (Gleaming Strike is also magic damage). From my solo parses in JW, Deathly Lifetap was about 4% of my damage and I had room to kite just a little bit after casting Bound, so it was definitely well worth.

Leave it to SOE to once again names something it's not. It's like when they constantly say they are affecting your damage per second when they have absolutely no control over your damage per second.

you will find in your logs that mobs (in the moors especially) often resist Deathly and Act of Survival. I have made Bound macroed to my opening attacks to try and reduce this "problem". Nothing like really needing a heal while at the end of a tough fight and the mob resists. I kind of count us lucky in that at least we have a pretty darn good M1 debuff that affects those procs.
