Im a returning player and findmyself very frustrated with high ping and eradic FPS. Before taking a couple years off, I had zero issues at very high settings.

I have been playing AOC/Warhammer/WOW/Vanguard/ even a stint at Lineage II. No issues with any of them at all. Played WOW at max settings on everything and didnt even have to turn down settings for end game raids. AOC was played at medium to high settings as well. So very confused. Did something change dramatically? I do have an updated video card, but rest of system is the same..

I have updated all drivers, tried a clean boot, defraged my comp, disconnected from router. Nothing seems to help.. When i play the game, I can set it to High Quality and get the same type of issues at extreme perfomance settings. Changing the settings doesnt seem to do anything at all except visually..

Please Help... any ideas would be appreciated..

************************************

Windows IP Configuration

        Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : XPS

        Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :

        Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid

        IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

        WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

        DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : hawaii.rr.com

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hawaii.rr.com

        Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller

        Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-14-22-35-2B-FA

        Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes

        Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100

        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

        DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

        DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 24.25.227.55

                                            66.75.160.63

                                            24.25.227.56

        Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, March 19, 2009 07:14:14 PM

        Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Friday, March 20, 2009 07:14:14 PM

Tracing route to sdkeq2-05-01.everquest2.com [199.108.12.161]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1

  2 * * * Request timed out.

  3 10 ms 11 ms 10 ms gig12-0-9.oahuhimili-gsr1.hawaii.rr.com [24.25.224.217]

  4 12 ms 9 ms 9 ms ge-2-0-0.oahuhimili-rtr1.hawaii.rr.com [24.25.224.138]

  5 65 ms 58 ms 66 ms xe-6-1-3.tustca1-rtr1.socal.rr.com [24.25.230.130]

  6 60 ms 63 ms 57 ms te-1-3.car1.Tustin1.Level3.net [4.79.140.37]

  7 63 ms 61 ms 62 ms ae-2-3.bar1.Tustin1.Level3.net [4.69.132.218]

  8 76 ms 72 ms 72 ms ae-6-6.ebr1.LosAngeles1.Level3.net [4.69.136.202]

  9 72 ms 71 ms 71 ms ae-61-61.csw1.LosAngeles1.Level3.net [4.69.137.2]

10 70 ms 70 ms 61 ms ge-2-1-0-69.bbr1.LosAngeles1.Level3.net [4.68.20.1]

11 142 ms 66 ms 64 ms as-1-0.mp1.SanDiego1.Level3.net [64.159.1.29]

12 65 ms 65 ms 67 ms so-8-0.hsa1.SanDiego1.Level3.net [4.68.112.130]

13 175 ms 206 ms 211 ms vl861.sdtermswitch-1.sonyonline.net [63.215.251.130]

14 67 ms 69 ms 65 ms vl831.sdkollsw-1.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.82]

15 69 ms 68 ms 67 ms sdkeq2-05-01.everquest2.com [199.108.12.161]

Trace complete.

Tracing route to sdkeq2-05-01.everquest2.com [199.108.12.161]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

  0 XPS.hawaii.rr.com [192.168.1.100]

  1 192.168.1.1

  2 * * *

Computing statistics for 50 seconds...

            Source to Here This Node/Link

Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address

  0 XPS.hawaii.rr.com [192.168.1.100]

                                0/ 100 = 0% |

  1 0ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 192.168.1.1

                              100/ 100 =100% |

  2 --- 100/ 100 =100% 0/ 100 = 0% XPS [0.0.0.0]

Trace complete.

On the first tracert you are getting a time out on the first hop, on the second it is not even going through to the server. This can be caused by a misconfigured router or firewall on your equipment. Would try the following to see if that helps

1. power off your router, computer, modem. Let them sit for 5 minutes to release any help IP

2. power the modem back up - let it come up completely before proceeding

3. power router back up

4. power computer back up

5. on the computer open a dos cmd prompt, type /ipconfig flushdns

6. optional - restart computer

7. rerun the tracerts and see if that changes anything.

Second possiblity

Nvidia nforce network card, do you have that built in BIOs firewall that a lot of the Nvidia based mothersbboards came with turned on? If so boot the computer, uninstall the drivers for that and that go into BIOS and disable it - this thign caused more problms then it dolved.

Third possiblity

You have a router in line, how is that configured for the game?

Besides all the great information that Wingrider posted, I would also check to make sure that you have 'reuse vertex buffers' enabled in game. That option is in the display options for the game, under the performance section.

Let us know how it turns out.

Greetings,

What kind of router are you using with your network? It almost looks like a firewall built into the router is blocking the connection. Is there any way that you can simply bypass the router and plug the computer directly into the modem? If so, that will tell us whether or not the router is part of the problem.

Linksys. Firewall is off. I dont have a single firewall on anywhere.. I have also hooked directly to the modem. Did a complete reset of modem. (off fifteen minutes) Ran a clean boot and still no improvement. The customer support email I received asked me to reload my Direct X to an older version, which I did as well and still nothing with that also.. Hate to say it but it is looking like I will be quiting again, unless someone comes up with something.. I guess I will try to do yet another complete reinstall of the game
