I saw a lot of comments concerning the fighter revamp come and go. But I believe there may be a larger problem which has manifested itself, That being cleric (healers) as a whole being greatly ineffective overall.

With the harder zones of the Kunark expansion, an unbalance crept in, one healer was relative ineffective in keeping up with the damage which could be inflicted to a tank type in the instances. The habit on live servers started in having 2 healers to keep the tank alive, and 3 healers representing leather, chain and plate in the MT group of many raids. With Shadows, the newer instances being more difficult, only served to reinforce the 2 healer group into becoming almost the norm.

Group makeup generally went to Tank, 2 healers, and 3 heavy DPS hitters such as assassins, or the occassional necro or wizard with 2 assassins. Many auxiliary function classes such as bards, coercers and such were very rarely getting invited to groups since the 2 cleric types made better sense to being able to complete the instance. The overall effect was the second cleric in most places displacing the crowd control classes and other auxiliary classes.

I don't believe the desired group makeup was intended to have 2 cleric groups as this habit generally makes some classes very undesirable for the instances or engagements. The buffs and healing power was needed, where the group should have been able to work through an instance in a reasonable amount of time with not too many death penalityies involved if carefully pulling.

Can something be done to increase the amount of cleric buffs and their heals to where one cleric can once again maintain the group for instances? Keeping the tank alive and have some reserve to keep other players in the group alive for the occassional over agro by the healer, mage or other players?

I do think we do need to get back to the balanced group concept, not just have everyone play gaurdian, cleric and assassin. Sure make the other 10 classes useless in the game where the variety of the classes was one of the major draws of the game itself. Let the players play the classes they enjoy, not what is required to complete and instance.

Comments?

Thanks,

Dye
