I've setp my wife's iMac with bootcamp and Windos XP sp1 and installe EQ2. I did thiw with the release of RoK and everything ran geat. In fact it seem to run bette on her iMac than on my HP laptop.With the releaeof TSO it still worked and was doing just fine until the first patch in February. After tis patch she started having crashes. When I say crash, I mean all the way down to the system restart.I've spent close to 3 ours now reading through all iMac and Powerbook related problems on the forum and another couple of hours searching the web and I have as yet to see a resolution, so I've been hesitant to post anything.Just to be clear, I'v been the entire gambit from completly rebuilding the bootcamp partition and reinstalling XP. I've ren MemTest 86 and everything passes with flying colors.I'll post he DxDiag, Msinfo and the EQ2_Recent.log for discetion. Sadly, we do not support the use of a Mac for Everquest 2. The game was not designed or tested for Mac systems and can run into problems like the one you described. That said, your graphics card driver is from april of last year and you should probably download and install the newest release from the ATI website.

Danial,This is an XP machine that just happens to be running on Apple hardware. This is not beta software. EQ2 was rock solid up until the February update. To use a blanket statement that SOE does not support EQ2 on iMac is like saying SOE does not support EQ2 on HP. Just on a hunch that perhaps a Microsoft update had cause the problem, I rolled back all updates for Feb and Jan. The system still crashes. This would seem to indicate that something changed in the SOE code. I suspect that there is a buffer overflow somehere that is impinging upon a driver on the system. Not being a systems level programmer, I'm not sure how you's isolate it.As for the video drive installed, it is the most current one available for this platform.I sincerly hope that SOE does not take the somewhat callous stance that just because the hardware comes from Apple they will not support it. From what I'm seeing not only on this forum, but elsewhere on the net, there is a recurring problem with with EQ2 running on BootCamp enable Apple hardware. I think that it would be a real feather in SOE's cap to find and eliminate this problem and potentially recurit more iMac folks to the world of EQ2. Myself, I'm not going to spend $1,000.00 to buy a machine just to run a $50.00 game.Best Regards

While I can provide some basic assistance, the game was not coded to be compatible with Mac's hardware architecture. Because of that, we can not guarantee that it will work even if we get your computer working perfectly. That said, some people use the game on a Mac but it will probably take extensive tweaking that I do not know how to perform. Hopefully some one who runs a similar setup can provide some helpful information.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the idea of developing with DirectX was to avoid hardware support issues? I was under the impression that was why it was developed so that HW folks could develop drivers that interfaced with a known interface program and developers could write to the DirectX interface and avoid having to write directly to the HW.Regardless, I guess all I can hope for is that someone has figured out how to get EQ2 working again on a iMac. What is so strange is that it was working so well up to the Feburary patch.Best regards
