Just looking for some input on a better off hand for a non raiding assassin.

aITEM -1136430526 1996356593:Carotidcutter/a

or

aITEM 79632571 1500488233:Void-Tainted Shortsword of Culling/a

Cutter has +5 double, shortsword has +int +2 crit and about the same stats and damage. Not sure if either is a big upgrade over the other (unless giving up 2 crit for 5double makes a big difference). Can see my current setup with gear from my signature.

Comments?

Thanks for your time,

P.S. Ignore the shield in the offhand...

I've always heard for scouts, that Double Attack is far more benificial then crit alone is.

my own assassins still a work in progress, just level 55, so I cant say much just yet.

but I can give you alittle tip.

theres another weapon a non raid assassin can look for, thats the axe from kelkin in atrebes in fens. I got one for my berserker - I have a variety of 4.0 weapons, and its just 1 of them. but what I can say about that axe from atrebes, its got a [Removed for Content] nice proc on it, and the damage output is nice too.

I certainly would like to get one on my assassin, when the time comes, no doubt. but the TSO signature reward is probably much better offhand choice - very very hard to get, but certainly not raid content.

At level 80 you can do the questline for the fabled assassin epic. Which is the best choice and then use cutter in off-hand slot.

With a good group it should take a few days.

I agree with poster above me concerning DA vs Crit. Assassins get more out of crit than double attack due to our large stealth burst attacks like execute. If these don't crit, your dps goes way down whether you are DA'ing your auto attacks or not. DA is a close second to crit in importance imho.
