Hey hey all, looking for some tips/suggestions and comments/concerns for utilizing my AA mirror for a Tank spec, for when MTing in group or raid, and a dps spec for when not tanking in group or raid. My current spec is a weird hodge podge of both and works best for when I am soloing, however when I get into a group, I neither do impressive or decent dps and I have a hard time holding hate, especially against other tanks (monks and bruisers included). I have searched the site but found little in the way of a pure tank spec that covers all three zerk aa trees and mixed reports for a dps spec that covers all three trees as well. Please advise and thanks much in advance! If some suggestions could be made on what would carry through best for the upcoming GU51, that would be welcome as well (if it ever gets here that is o.O).

If you're looking for a pure DPS spec, you can achieve it with this AA build (EoF and TSO trees at your discretion, but theres not many DPS options in those trees):

STR 448 - For the melee critSTA 448 - For the double attackWIS 447 - For the DPS modINT 48822 - For the Haste mods and Reuse.

There are a few downsides:

1. Depending on group makeup and gear, you can easily go way over the DPS and Haste cap, negating the DPS mod from WIS tree and Haste mods from INT tree (with only a Dirge and Illusionist, I can get 200+ DPS mod and 300+ Haste mod)

2. You have to sacrifice defense, specifically the shield block mod from STA tree, and some Parry from INT tree.

3. You give up the advantages of STR4 (both pre-GU51 and post-GU51) which will hurt your aggro.

The point is, if you suddenly find yourself going from a DPS role to a Tank role, you're not going to be as well equipped to tank as you will with a pure tank build.

I would add that you should also have a set of DPS gear. Mainly the armor, etc. If you've seen Berserkers running aroung in chain instead of plate, it's because of the better melee DPS specs on the chain. So, fulfilling both roles does take a bit of time to do right as you're getting two sets of gear and used to two different specs, but it does come in handy when you're needed more for DPS than as a tank.

Alright, I will try that dps spec. I tried coming up with one on my own, and it meets with success about 50% of the time. Seems to work really well in raid, but not so much in group. So, I consider it a bust and will not repeat it here *filled with shame* Any suggestions on a really strong tank spec?

Nevermind Xalmat has a good spec listed in the other AA thread. Will try that for tank spec Thanks very much!
