In windows I get sound out of all 5 speakers, but in everquest only 3 of 5. Using Soundblaster 2 Audigy Platinum Pro, but switching to motherboard's sound card didn't seem to make any difference.

Any suggestions?

I had this same issue two years ago after building my current computer, with Vista64. What you need to do is go to your Everquest II folder and launch the file EQ2SETTINGS.EXE. Click on its Settings tab. There you will find a multitude of speaker options. Select the one that matches your configuration. For some reason mine was defaulted to 2.0 channels. It might be likewise for you.

-Roybob

Thanks for responding. I tried every single setting where you suggested I go. Nothing made any difference at all.

Have you updated your sound card drivers recently? Especially with Vista 64, Creative Labs has never been the best with driver support and old drivers definitely could be causing this problem.

Also, what do you have your 'sound provider' option set to in the game? If you haven't already then you'll probably want to try a couple of the available options to see if any provide better results.

I forgot to ask last time: are you running Creative's "ALchemy" that lets you use EAX settings in games with Vista? Be advised you might need to edit your ALchemy EQ2 settings (within the ALchemy applet) to avoid distortion, but this depends somewhat on motherboard chipset and amount of installed ram. You might be fine with stock settings. (You might or might not also need to manually add EQ2 to ALchemy. I did.)

-Roybob
