I like to say thanx for all your replies so far, very helpful, it's good to know that paying customers are a top priority for sony.

Well I managed to find my disks for the game, I uninstalled what i'd downloaded, and reinstalled form the original disks, guess what? same problem, only now after 10 hours the counter is counting up! 30 hours and getting worse. I'm not really all that good with computers as I only really use them for gaming, so I hope someone can give me some idea what I can do to fix this problem, IN PLAIN ENGLISH! and maybe some links to follow as this forum is confusing and it's alomost impossible to find anything!

Using el cheapo dsl it took me 24 hours to download. If you are using the internet while the patcher is running it will likely take much longer to finish.

I have not had the opportunity to download the game via the newer access program so I cannot say if it is faster than the old one. It's worth a try I guess: http://launcher.station.sony.com/

Sorry for the delay in response. I was training new technical support reps for most of last week and didn't get many chances to post.

Since the time is actually counting upward, it sounds like the game is downloading but something on your computer is blocking those updates from being applied. The most common cause is Windows Vista. If you're using Vista, then please follow these steps:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

If that doesn't work then we'll probably need some additional information. Are you using a firewall or antivirus on that computer? If so, which specific programs?

Quick bump on this for you to see TSR.

I recently reinstalled EQ2 and am having the same problem as the original poster.. First it said 5 hours to update, then 24 hours.. Now 24 hours later it's sitting at 87 hours. The folder says about 10.7GB's.. I stopped it and got the beta launcher to see if it fixes. I have no virus scanner running, I just uninstalled Mcafee to see if it helps.

any idea?

Going on 19 hours now to update this game from the original discs, still showing 7 and half to go. No telling how much it will tell me after that's done. No router, no firewall, no wireless, 10mbps connection out of texas.

This is the only product that gives me such abysmal download speeds.
