A few days ago,as soon as I logged into the game it would freeze my computer. The only way out was to do a emergency reboot. After the computer re-boots the same thing happens again.I was getting a megssage that my grafics card stopped responding. After this I updated all drivers on the computer including the bios and mobo.I also deleted and reinstalled the game. Now when I log into the Station Launcher the updates to teh new installation start, which is expected, the problem is that when the download timer gets to around to 5-10 minutes left it , the timer, jumps to 4 hours or so.I tried to download the updates for the new install yesterday, and same thing happened ,as stated above.Download took more than 10 hours, normally only takes about 3-5 hours. This morning I tried to restarted the Station Launch updater, same thing as stated above happed when the download timer gets down to around to 5- 10 minutes, sometimes as low as 3 minutes , it will jump to 4 hours. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You are not the only one having this problem. I installed fresh off of TSO Disk and im getting the same issue with launchpad. Im getting 20 hour download times. There has to be something on SoE end. I spoke with SoE and my isp and opened all the ports used to patch and still havent fixed the problem. I even reformatted harddrivea and fresh install of win xp home edition. I have never had this problem before and ive been trying to patch eq2 for 3 days now. Right now it shows 20 hours left on update, I can go to sleep and come back in 8 hours and it will still be around the same. Sony what can we do to fix this?

ok I have 3 computers, all run the same software, and only this 1 PC is having this issue. Also, others in my guild have the same problem. It's been a few days now that I can't log in. The patcher says it needs to download for hours, then then download cancels.

Would be nice to get a answer from soney on what is going on, or at least that someone is working on the issue. Since I made no changes to my PC, and I have 2 ohters that work, it's not an issues with my PC. It's someting that soney did.

There was an issue with the station launcher. they rolled it back to version 1.08 build 730427 make sure you have THIS build by checking Help--> About.

If you do not, redownload the Station Launcher and reinstall it.

If you DO, then simply login to the launcher, click Options. Then Preferences and on the LEFT side you will should see the Everquest II and Legends of Norrath or any other games you have installed for Launcher.

Click the Everquest II, the right changes to Everquest II Download options with 4 clickable buttons inthe middle area.

Now click DELETE SCAN CACHE and press OK.

Now Click the Everquest II game and you should get the Scanning. This time though it will be a FULL SCAN.

Let the FULL SCAN run until it is finished. Problem fixed. No more 2+ hour downloads.

thanks for the info. Where can I get the rolled back station launcher mentioned in the last thread? Even though I think that SOE should have came up with the solution, I still think that they should give you a SOE sticker to put on the saddle of your horse, or what ever you may have. Thanks again. Im going to try your solution now. BRB after the 4th install

Like I stated, if you redownload the Station Launcher, it will be the rolled back version. The version Number will match the one I posted.

The launcher will need to run a full file scan, but it wont need to download many files.

I down loaded the rolled back version of the launcher, completed the full file scan and Im still getting 5 hour downloads. This is starting to get flustrating... I totally understand your instructions in the previous posts and have followed them. The last fresh install was a total digital download, using the rolled back station launcher. After the install is complete, the updates start and as stated earlier when the updates are almost finished, then update launch resets and then starts dowloading the update files again. Im going to try to fine the station log.. and then post it. brb.

It sounds like the files are being downloaded, but something on the computer is blocking the updates from being applied. I know this has already been mentioned, but that problem is usually caused by an antivirus or firewall. Sometimes you can correct the program by opening the exception list for the firewall and deleting all of entries similar to Everquest2.exe, EQ2.exe, or launchpad.exe.

Have you tried using the regular launchpad insted of the Station Launcher? If not, that would be my next suggestion. You can download that launcher at the following location:

http://everquest2.station.sony.com/...m?reinstall=yes

Download it and install to the same directory where you already installed the game. Do not uninstall or delete any of the files in your Everquest 2 directory since that shouldn't be necessary.

Just tried to use the Trial version, and ran into Station Launcher telling me I would need literally days of downloading (on a 14 day trial--interesting) to run the game. So went and bought EQII: TSO pack at store. Now it's wanting an additional 4 hours (at least) of downloads before I can get past the splash screen.

Wanted to compare this to WoW, which I'm a little burnt on. This is not a great way to start.

Has anyone actually gotten to play this game? Or did I just spend 30 bucks on vaporware?

It would be hard to say what is slowing your download without some additional information about your network. Are you using an antivirus, firewall, Vista, or a router with your current system? Any one of those things could be causing the connection problem you're experiencing.

In this case, without any additional information, I'm going to lean towards a router issue. If possible you might want to try bypassing your router so that your computer is plugged directly into your modem. If that corrects the problem then we'll need to get your router set up for port forwarding. Otherwise, post some more information about your network and we'll try to find the cause.
