I've heard this now from several different sources but haven't had a chance to play and test things out. I've been away for 5 months or so. Is it true that our dps is actually less than guard/zerker dps? How do we compare?

Other question; how are we in pvp now? When asked "if you could have a char in full pvp gear what class would it be?" about 40% of the responces said Bruiser. But again its been a little while now and I'm wondering if we're as solid as we once were. Are we still a force in pvp or are we laughed at next to the necros?

As for everyday norrath tank dps the bruiser will and should outparse all the plates on a short fight. If the pulls are constant and do not stop where it leaves the bruiser waiting for the long reuse timers to refresh then all other fighters except the paladin will equal or beat a bruiser.

Basically bruisers are very combat art dependant to dishout dps. Bruiser's cannot buff auto attack with any self buffs like their brawler counter part the monk. Monks can haste their auto attack and five of their ca's refresh 30 seconds quicker which helps them to be better dps on constant pulling or long fights without buring the power to equal or beat bruiser dps.

When bruiser combat arts are all fresh they can do good damage on short fights. Any fight that lasts over 20 seconds will hurt the bruiser's dps but only if the bruiser isn't hasted or buffed.

For pvp I can't answer those questions.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it's the same as it's been for a good long time. As in, a well played bruiser, or well geared bruiser, will still do fine on fast fights.

Maybe even better on longer fights if they're better geared or of the plate tank sucks, which is not all that uncommon for non-guild groups. =) lot of lazy players out there. For proof just parse for a while and watch dps. Then start posting the parses and watch everybody try harder. heh

Bruisers rock in PVP... of course one of the few classes that pwn bruisers are SK's, but SK's pwn all... that will be nerfed soon enough im sure... now thats not to say all SK's pwn bruisers, but gear for gear, they will... I would say Skill for Skill too but it takes no skill to be beastly on an SK...

As far as DPS goes.. remember that as of now, bruisers are mostly single target tanks... 2 blue AOE's, one of which has an insanely long recast on it, over a minute... makes encounter DPS not that great unless the encounter drops like a rock.... but single target bruisers are pretty beastly... of course sustained DPS, like said above, will be higher on a monk, but if you space your Combat arts between your auto attacks, you can go pretty long...

On raids / instances, my auto attack makes up for about 40-50 percent of my overall DPS, so make sure your allowing time for your auto attack to hit between Combat Arts... I love Double attack... STR line gives a 28 percent boost to that from the get go, or some number like that, so i focused on getting Double attack gear, so that yes my haste may be super low, 50ish, but when i do hit, i wanna do near 100 percent double attack so that im hitting twice as hard when i do auto attack vs a monk who auto attacks more frequently...

Im on a PVP server, so my PVP gear doesnt really focus on melee crit, as that is nearly always fully mitigated with PVP crit mit gear... so i go for double attacks and DPS, so when i auto attack i knock their socks off, non critical high damage double attacks FTW so it basically puts their 250 PVP tokens worth of critical mitigation gear into the garbage, because im not criting them, im just hitting them doubly hard

With the fighter update, i dont think your going to have to worry about out dps'ng any other tank, because if your tanking, you will have plenty of hate build up, and if your not tanking, the tank will have plenty of hate build up and your tuants dont work in offensive... so it works out...

I think you will start to see "Taunt's per second" parses popping up, so that a tank can see how much taunts he's putting out to hold aggro, instead of his DPS output...
