After being gone 2-3 years I'm returning. For me there is no other class but Swashy!

I do have some concerns.

I left at level 70 with 85 or so AA and the following equipment.

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...terId=502289101

and have no plat to speak of as I gave everything away when I left.

Am I to far behind AA and equipment wise? Would I be better off re-rolling a new Swash?

I have created a couple other new toons to get back into the mechanics of the game but miss this guy any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Personally I wouldn't reroll. Your gear certainly needs some updating, but nothing that some questing and grouping won't fix. Start in Kylong plains, do all the quests and move on. By the time you are done with all the RoK zones you should have a respectable set of gear and plenty of AAs.

Also, check out this thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=443550

Kalandre has some good advice for gear upgrades and compelling AA build recommendations.

if you want to stay as a scout you have a few options.

dps = dark elf assasin

raid = bard -> assasin/ranger -> brigand

as things are going now, the developers are killing the swashy class outright. hopefully they'll buff us some way, but that doesn't seem likely at this point.

bury him for now mate and don't look back.

I wouldn't bother coming back to EQ2. The swashbuckler is a dead class as of today. You would be better off finding something else to do with your time and money.

I had no idea my favorite class was irreperably broken. Don't listen to the naysayers. Swashy is still a blast to play. My server seems to have a lot of Swashys, but I still have no trouble finding groups. If you don't want to group, RoK has about a zillion solo quests. Bottom line, if you loved the class before you still will.

As soon as that comes, reroll if you aren't already mythed with tones of set gear.

I can't wait to hear your point of view change after the hate revamp hits. Proc off a couple hurricanes followed by whirl and swathe and take a dirt nap...rinse and repeat. our skills are not being changed to compensate for the new mechanics. I'm not a naysayer, i simply know what my class does and see what the devs are not addressing.

I'm sure it's going to shake everyone up a lot. At least we have hate reduction CAs, and hate reduction poisons. I think the people rethinking their classes most would be wizards and assassins. Just because we might not be able to spam all of our damage right off the bat doesn't mean the class is broken.

Assassins and wizards have nothing to worry about tbh.

Its the AE classes that have everything to lose. Tanks can do a good job keeping hate on multiple mobs with the new changes, but not as well as they can on single target. Meaning assassins and wizards have an edge whereas swashies and warlocks have to scale back an indeterminant amount to not rip from the adds. Even warlocks get an AE deaggro, whereas swashies do not. We have Avoid which has a chance to PROC on every attack we do, and our hate xfer which helped with adds is being replaced by a SINGLE TARGET TAUNT/DETAUNT reactive. It's a nice skill, but it's got nothing on what we have lost. Has to make you wonder. Brigands will have better hate management than we do(Appeal for Mercy anyone?). Kinda funny how that works considering our skills are geared toward hate gen for other classes.

Lessee what we have.

SOH: More a detriment than anything. Very unreliable. Highly Situational. Area effect. Can wipe the raid by ripping from the tank if you are not directly beneath tank in hate list. If the tank has adds on him and you rip one of them, do NOT use SOH. The mob attacking you will go to the tank and the other adds will come onto you. USELESS. BROKEN. PIECE OF CRAP! When to use SOH? Swap your hate with a healer, putting you at the bottom of the list. Swap hate with tank if tank is knocked back and he needs time to get back into position. When you tank, swap hate with whoever ripped. It has its uses if you're smart, but only in a raid setup. In group instances, using SOH is completely pointless and can screw up everything. Now compare that to fatal followup. DOn't care about DPS but about breadth of use. Fatal followup can be used ANYWHERE.

Evasive Meneuvres: A rogue skill from the shadow line, single target hate position decrease for us + damage. Very nice skill on single encounter fights.

Baffle: A rogue skill. Single target dehate.

Hideaway: Single target Hate position decrease + dehate

Avoid: Single target dehate proc off auto attack. Meaning it can proc through Hurricane. But unreliable. You have no control on your AE dehate.

Blame Blade: Single target 30% increase in hate on Tank's next attack. One trigger. Getting nerfed to ~14% next update.

Spurious Bravado: 5% increase in hate? Wait what!?

Swarthy Disorder: Now - 19% hate goes to whoever has buff. 27% with mythical. Next Update - Single target taunt reactive with three triggers. 1 min refresh. WOOT!.... not.... I can generate that much hate and more if there are four mobs in front of me without pushing any buttons. It's called auto attack and swashies have the potential of generating 40k+ if hurricane procs and you have 100% MC and DA, and flurry which plenty raiding swashies have.

For those of us that can actually dps, these changes are going to really hit us hard. I don't care about the soloing swashies who can't parse higher than a conjy pet. They were never in any real danger to begin with.
