As soon as the game window comes up, whether it's windowed or fullscreen, I am greeted with nothing but black. However, the mouse cursor changes. Before, I was getting the intro movies, then a frozen frame when I clicked out or hit esc. In each circumstance, I can hear the music from the character select screen.

Trying to move the window seems laggier than it should be. I've also tried launching as administrator and normally, with the built-in launchpad and the beta launcher, with and without XP compatibility mode, with and without desktop compositioniand, with visual themes enabled and disabled.

I'd like to find a fix for this, before I try doing a full reinstall.

I doubt you would need to reinstall for this issue. Could you provide some basic information about your computer? Specifically, I'm looking for your CPU/RAM/Graphics card info. The first section of your DXdiag file should contain everything I need if you're able to post it.

Also, are you running any type of antivirus on that computer? Certain antiviruses are known to cause this type of issue.

Well, I found a workaround for now, but I can't guarantee it'll stay like that. I set my ATI Catalyst Control Center's 3D settings to minimum, then got the game to run. After that, I exited and put the settings back to normal, disabling Catalyst AI. THEN it seemed to work. I think it has something to do with setting initial configurations, because my UI settings that I set last night were gone. I just hope that it saves the settings after rebooting. Seems to work exiting and restarting the game, but I'll know for sure tomorrow.

I'll keep the antivirus in mind. If it happens next time I reboot, I'll disable that and see how it goes.

Core 2 Duo E4700

4gb DDR2 800

ATI Radeon HD 4850

If I have continued problems, I'll post the DXDIAG.

You might want to turn off adaptive anti-aliasing as well. The other graphics card settings should be fine if you want to have them enabled.

If your UI settings aren't saving then make sure you're running the program as an administrator. If that doesn't work then I would suggest moving your Everquest 2 folder to a different location since Windows places additional security on applications in the program files directory. Moving it somewhere like C:Games should be fine. The game can be moved freely without needing to reinstall.

Moving the install directory seems to have worked, and my UI is saved from last night. Thanks for your help.
