Okay, I've been twice. Once on a fury with T2 void armor and her epic, once on a warden with the same gear. For the record, I am what you call a casual player that USED to raid, until about a year ago. My toon on live does NOT have a full set of T2 void armor OR her epic yet. That being said, I'm going to jump into what is wrong or right about this new raid zone for 12 people. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />First off, it is an awesome looking zone with a bunch of different looks in different spots that really are terrific. For a general pick up raid, the first time I was in, with the fury (I currently run a lvl 72 fury on test) we didn't have a real "raid leader" type in the group. We had some people, like myself that have raided, one raids pretty frequently on live. We attempted the ice room. Gotta say here that something has to be changed. The ice is too slick for the KB that the fans give. If you are hit with that KB, you can't recover in time to do anything but die. We all had run off and were in a crouch and still couldn't stay near the tank to keep him alive. I understand this area is currently being revamped, thank you Timetravel for listening!!! We also attempted the "tower" area, with the boss in the water. The first time I was in, I don't think we ever did the named any damage. We did begin to figure out that the towers had something to do with it.Second time in was yesterday. This time, we had someone that was a raid leader on live. Most of the people had apparently raided before. The groups gelled very quickly and we were able to handle the "trash" mobs that were epic X 2 in the hallways relatively easily. We couldn't try the ice room as it is being revamped. We took down at least 1 named that was pretty easy in a room, at least I think we did. We again tried the tower area. This time we got the named down to about 75% before we finally called it. Both times I was in there for about 3 hrs. Would I do this zone on live with my warden in a general pick up group?? HELL NO!! Let me tell you why not. First off, you NEED to have someone that can take charge and actually lead 2 groups or you won't get anywhere. Second off, not all casual players have rushed right out to get full T2 void shard armor, nor are all casual players even epiced yet. Would I do this zone on live with my warden in a group of people I know/trust to raid? Oh hell YES!! If I knew everyone else knew THEIR job on a raid, I would be there in a heartbeat.Is this zone a huge learning curve to kill the nameds? Why, yes, it will be a good day to die. But isn't that half the fun of a new raid zone? Will I go back with my raid specced lvl 80 T2 void armored warden on test_copy? You better believe it!! So, it has issues, but the dev is there and listening, thank you very much. But it will be a very fun zone for anyone. I can see high end raiding guilds with a lot of players getting groups together to go in to this zone just for the challenge. Am I going to work my tush off to get the rest of my T2 void shard armor on live to do this zone? Oh my goodnessyes!!!! I agree with you on going in there with a pickup group. Did this zone... or attempted to, on a pickup raid (only thing possible in test_copy atm) and it was painful to say the least. The person that was "chosen" to lead the raid was a total spaz that just liked to hear the sound of his own voice... and would talk on and on about nothing relating to the raid, and would not allow or listen to anyone else.Aside from that however, I got a general feel for the trash. Its not the type you just charge right up to, but have to do proper positioning, and have to watch out for the roamers. The health seemed mediocre... just about right for x2 epics.We got sent to the fire room (cause our setup and speed just had much too tough a time with the trash) and the encounter was interesting, although our tank seemed to be one shotted a little much. Maybe he was debuffed, but there wasn't enough cohesion among the group to figure out what was happening, and by that time, most players had gotten tired of listening and the raid broke up.I would definately do this zone with my guildies, but would avoid it like the plague for pickups. The reward is not worth the hassle... and the rewards are good... so you know the hassle must be huge.
