<p>I have to say that I'm very dissapointed with the art direction to the avatars in this game, compared to eq1. A good comparison is Solusek Ro. <p>I know this might be a cheap explanation but...</p><p>The EQ1 pics are of the actual gods themselves....the ones in EQ2 are only avatar's, messengers of the very gods they represent..at least if you were to go by the lore in EQ2 up to Fallen Dynasty..not sure what happened after that.   Eh, but what do I know?</p>

<p>I think what the previous posted stated might be at least partially the case.</p><p>I know the Avatar of Bertoxxuluus looks NOTHING like he did in EQ1. Big festering ratonga here.  </p>

<p>Solusek Ro looks the same in both eq1 and eq2....he just looks a hundred times better in eq1.</p><p>I'm not asking them to make the avatars look 100% the same as the gods in eq1, but they can at least try to make them look good. Both Karana and Solusek Ro looks like cartoon characters compared to most other npc models in eq2. The only avatar I really like is  Anashi Sul.</p>

<p>The Gods in thier own planes are the physical manifestations of themselves, as how they want others to see them.</p><p>The Avatars here on Norrath aren't the Gods themselves. They are a mortal given divine powers of that diety. With an Erudite, that's the closest Solusek Ro is going to get to his planar appearance.</p><p>I'm just glad they didn't half-*** Quellious' appearance. Even though she didn't show up in EQlive, her avatar is that of a 12 year old human girl, the same as her concept art.</p><p><img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Cusashorn/Quellious.png" /></p><p>If she showed up in EQlive, the closest they could do without making a completely new model would be using a female halfling, but there would be so many things wrong with that if they did.</p>

<p>I don't think the lore is a good enough excuse to make ugly looking avatars, when they have done such a great job on some of the other npc models.</p>
