So, I've spent the better part of the afternoon transfering all the stats and abilities of the various Plate Shard armour into a Table that would allow me to look, in detail, at the various bonuses and implications of crafting the various pieces of armour (im Also a Shard Crafter so have direct access to the stats).

From what I can see, the sets obviously have specific Roles, the Generic Set being a DPS machine and the Specialist PLD/SK Set being a Tanking, but I also noticed that, In general, both sets have augments to the other. Combining this with the fact that our 5 set bonuses are pretty poor lead me to question whether the best bet would be to have a Mixed Set rather than a single Set.

If anyone is interested I can link the spreadsheet I used to do my Workings out on, but in Short Here is my workings:

Tier 1

Ground Granite Full Set

Mit: 3070 Str: 252 Sta: 158 Agi: 30 Wis: 90 Int: 0 Health: 880 Power:405 Resists:1681

Consolidated Bonuses;

+6 Crushing, +8 double attack, +170 arts damage, Attack speed increase 35, 2% beneficial spell recast, 8 Defense, +10 DPS, +2 double attack, increased double attack %, +10 in combat power regen, 4 Focus, +2 Melle Crit chance, +5% base arts damage.

(2) +10 int, +10 str

(3) Increase shield effectiveness 10%

(5) Trigger group heal for 213

Zealots Steel Full Set

Mit: 3070 Str:152 Sta:171 Agi:90 Int:252 Wis: 252 Health: 895 Power:400 Resists:1681

Consolidated Bonuses;

14 Defense, 10 Parry, 8 Focus, 10 melle spell and heal crit chance increase, spell cast time reduced 2%, 35 attack speed, 2% physical damage reduction, 30 in combat power regen, 2 Mitigation.

(2) +10 int, + 10 Wis

(3) +150 Threat

(5) +5 Mitigation

Fusion Set

Zealots Gauntlets, Ground Greaves, Ground Hauberk, Zealots Helm, Zealots Sabatons, Ground Spaulders.

Mit: 3070 Str:245 Sta:186 Agi:20 Wis:169 Int:124 Health:885 Power:400 Resists:1681

Consolidated Bonuses;

2 Crushing, +10 Defense , +5 DPS,, 6 Focus, 5 melle spell heal crit, spell cast time 2%, 35 attack speed, +5 double attack chance, +80 arts damage, Triggered double attack %, 30 in combat power regen, 3 Parry, +5% base arts damage

(2) +10 int, +10 str (3) Increase shield effectiveness 10% (2) +10 int, + 10 Wis (3) + 150 Threat

Tier 2

Holy Knight Full Set

Mit: 3288 Str: 270 Sta:153 Agi: 30 Wis:90 Int:0 Health: 1055 Power: 560 Resists: 1826

Consolidated Bonuses;

4 double attack chance, 10 critical mitigation, 230 arts damage increase, +45 Attack speed Increase, 3% beneficial spell recast reduction 2 defense, Trigger chance 506 heal. +23 DPS, 10 power regen, 2 Melee Crit chance, base damage increase 8%

(2) +20 int, + 20 str

(3) Shield Effectivenss 15%

(5) Trigger heal 281

Void Knight Full Set

Mit: 3288 Str:152 Sta:171 Agi:86 Wis:270 Int: 270 Health:995 Power:635 Resists: 1826

Consolidated Bonuses;

+16 defense, +16 parry, +9 Focus, 9 critical mitigation, +1 double attack chance, 3 mitigation increase, +14 Melee, Spell and Heal Critical chance, Attack speed Increase 38, 3% spell recast reduction,3% physical damage reduction+25 In combat Power Regen,

(2) +20 int, +20 wis

(3) Threat increase 200

(5) +7 Mit Increase

Fusion Set

Void Knight Gauntlets, Holy Warrior Greaves, Holy Warrior Hauberk, Void Knight Helm, Void Knight Sabatons, Holy Warrior Spaulders

Mit: 3288 Str:255 Sta:181 Agi:20 Wis:177 Int:132 Health: 1015 Power: 605 Resits: 1826

Consolidated Bonuses;

+8 defense, +7 Focus, +3 Parry, +1 double attack chance, +6 Melee Spell and Heal Critical chance, Attack speed increase +45,3% spell recast time Reduction, +13 dps, +9 critical mitigation, +115 arts damage, Trigger chance 506 Group heal. +25 Power Regen, base damage increase 8%

(2) +20 int, +20 str

(3) Increase shield effectiveness 15%

(2) +20 int, + 20 Wis

(3) + 200 Threat

Please Tell me what you think, including anyone that could give light as to how it would be post GU51, or anthing that may have been looked over.

Many Thanks,

Post GU51, it's pretty much the whole Void Knight package. Paladins are being classified as single-target tanks, and to tank, you've got to be in your defensive stance. So, that means you want your mitigation and avoidance as high as possible, and the Ultra Enraging Presence threat reactive is the only passive hate you're going to have (aside from using Sigil every once in a while).

The double attack, DPS modifier and so on in the Holy Knight set is worthless tanking post-GU51 becuase your damage will become such an incredibly small part of your overall threat-per-second. Your job will be to stand there, taunt and soak up damage; actually hitting anything will become a secondary concern. Unless you're soloing most of the time, your singlular purpose in life will be that of a meatshield.

Welcome to a brave new world.

The defense stance from Paladin gives a hate proc on hitting the mob. Unlike every other fighter class, that has the same proc on getting hit instead. So hitting a mob gives smetimes a tauntproc too, therefore hitting the mob is not really uninteresting but combined with our decreased chance to hit and no acceptable way to remove the penalties from def stance (only option is the very ineffective wisdom line), we are far from hitting mobs in def stance anyway.

The relatively low proc rate, and the relatively small amount of threat (compared to taunts) really makes it a secondary concern. All tanks are effectively being turned into taunt monkeys with GU51. Gearing with that in mind means that you need to focus on items that allow you to take the beating while you spam those buttons every few seconds.

A 5%/7% boost to total Mit. is pretty poor? I think it's one of the nicer 5 piece set bonuses.

The difference is around 2-300 mit wich the shard set has more.

Void Knight set, with gloves swapped for Darkened Steal Gauntlets, and the Bracers from Atriebe's Lab filling the gaps would be my preference.

You can then upgrade to the T3 (fabled) set too, once that comes to live.
