Hi, newbie here, but been playing a paladin since EQI. I just got back into this game not to long ago and I've noticed that xenogite(sp?) isn't much better than cobalt armor and I don't feel like harvesting any rares because of that. I'm my own armorsmith so I've been crafting my own armor up until this point. However, I don't know what to do about better armor? I stopped playing around when the EoF expansion pack came out and I was wondering are there any quests out there that I should do, or specific zones/instinces I should hunt in to get some better armor? Unfortuntley, I don't raid much b/c most of the raiding in my guild is lv.75+. Thanks, hopefully you can help me become a better tank!

Actually, Xegonite is a lot better than cobalt, but only if you get hit by the mobs (which tank classes do.) Don't just look at the +STR and stuff if you're playing a pally.

Mitigation is important, and it's compared to level; level 52 armor against a level 68 opponent is a bad idea. (That's the reason equipment "greys out" when examined by a much-higher-level person.)

There's a reason that xegonite clusters cost so much on the broker, and it's not the crafted weapons or furniture...

By the time you're in the high 60s, you'd be better off with mob-dropped or quested armor with lower stats but higher level, or possibly even with adamantine armor (but I'm not sure there), than with cobalt.
