Hi, I know this has been done to death in the forums but I browsed through everything and done all the Set as Administrator steps and all but I still see not much progress except the window looking different. Time is ticking down on my 30 day game card I bought to reactivate my EQ2 account and with the way these download times look and these errors, I only spent $15 to load patches and no game play. I am downloading this on my old Desktop XP machine with 512Mb RAM where I originally played the game years ago and the loading patch time is quicker and it shows PLAY when an update is canceled or finished. I want this to work on my new 2gig RAM Vista 32 bit laptop. I am about had it with Vista's incompatability issues with everything and just taking my XP disk and replacing OS on this laptop. I know XP machines as well as I am in networking tech classes but Vista I know little about. Can someone help me? Sorry about this.

Here is a screenshot of what I see.

I see that you have performed at least some of the steps for Vista, but make sure you have done everything listed below:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

Beyond that, do you have any kind of internet security software on your computer? Let me know what firewall/antivirus you're using, if any.

I had done the set Administrator step awhile ago. As for security, I do have WPA-Personal ( PSK ) set up for my wireless router. Could that be the hinderance? I can disable it until this is fixed.

Ok I have done that but still no character select and nothing but looong download times. I am doing the same thing on my XP machine and I see the character select but no Play button either on XP but Updating which is I guess I have to wait till that is over. Now both computers are downloading at 6 hours remaining. I am thinking of letting the XP machine do all the downloading and whenever it finishes, I transfer the files to my Vista machine. This is all a headache, why couldn't I do all this downloading and then activate the card without loosing all this time I paid for just on update downloading alone? Even WoW doesn't do all that yet that game sucks compared to EQ2.

30 mins have passed and the hours and minutes are jumping around randomly on the Station Launchers I downloaded on both computers and ran them at the same time and the Vista and it is now at 15% while the XP is at 23%. Seems XP is winning the race. I hope this is a good thing so I am ignoring what it says and just waiting. I hope it doesn't jump to another 15 hour download like its been doing the past 2 days I been downloading before I did these steps you gave me and what I saw on the other forum posts on issues similar to mine such as copy to another folder out of Progam Files.

I'm assuming that you use a router with your network connection. Have you tried bypassing the router to plug your computer directly into the modem? It's possible that the router could be causing an issue, and bypassing it would let us know for sure.

Hmm... let me try that. I can hook the cable modem via RJ-45 cable and just turning off wireless all together without severing my network connection to both computers internet wise. I'll edit post if this makes an improvement. I want to record what works and doesn't here on this topic so others with the same problem can see also.

Crap no pause download button. I would have to briefly sever the internet connection to remove the router from the cable modem. XP is on 45% download already and Vista is 30% so I am going to wait till XP finishes and I'll do the cable jack switch if there was no improvement after download. Computers are a pain.

Did what you told me and it seemed to have knocked the download time from 5 hours to 1 and half. I hope it stays true to to that. But what concerns me is that my character select list isnt showing up while it is on XP.

*Edit*

HOLY! I see Launch Game on screen! I guess it was my router that was messing up the patch downloading. Thanks for the help guys and I appreciate all the work you guys do to answer all these questions every single day because I know that can give headaches.

The character select list on the launchpad will always be blank until you log all the way into the game on that computer. I'm glad to hear it's working for you now.

Enjoy the game!
