Hi I know this isn't a serious issuse. But I just downloaded and installed EverQuest II and I started updating. Its been going on for a good 6 hours now since starting my update. I was wondering if this was normal for a new game. I'm using a 100Mbps cable and it says I have a Est. Time of 13 hours. I think I'm on my third top bar fill. Thanks for your help,-Taiphoon

You're downloading about 10GB of data.

Sometimes the loader can hang. If itr seems to be stuck on one file, stop the loader and restart it. It will pick up where it left off.

If you have serious slowdown issues, you might want to check some stuff:

Run a tracert and get your ping. "How to" is described in the Connection Support Forum.

Make sure nothing is interfering with the ports EQ2 uses. If you are having issues, I recommend the excellent diagnostics and ho-tos at PortForward.com.

Check your ISP's bandwidth policiies. Some nasty service providers (for examples, Hughes.net satellite) throttle your bandwidth after a certain amount of downloading, unless you do it between 2AM and 6AM.

There's also a lot of voice acting and orchestral music and environmental sounds.

When I first was installing, I remember stomping around here fuming because it took so long initially. But that was years ago and here I still am! I still love the game, and I'm still finding new stuff even in old zones that I hadn't seen before.

If you're downloading all of the optional updates then you might want to set them to download in the background. The additional voice packs that you can download will add to the time required. My Everquest 2 directory is currently around 18GB with all the optional download and some additional modifications.
