the typical answer you will get now-a-days is wait until GU51 comes out and we can tell you then...

But if you just started, you can't possibly make wrong picks before it comes out unless you are trying. I don't see things changing much from the best three warrior lines (str/sta/int) other than possibly point allocation. Most guards go for the int endline, str for crits, and sta for DA/SE, the only change in this might be that you need to add additional points into the STR line where you may have not done so in the past (taunts). Start in your warrior tree, it is by far the most effective for the points spent.

In the guardian tree, you need the double attack endline, make sure to go down the right side of it so that you can start a branch off to get rescue reuse and reinforcement reuse. You also need the block endline, and likely 5pts into ToS. This will leave you with like 20+pts to spend wherever you want, I suggest on damage CAs and additional nice things in the block line if you still need points there.

In the TSO tree, you will want health from the general line, the other option is really up to you, dont waste more than the 10 points you need to, to get out of the general line. In the warrior line you want the damage absorption as well as the endline "rescue" type ability, the other 5pts can be spent on either increasing your low damage CA (right now this option is probably best) or increasing one of your two stances (with GU51 the dstance upgrade will likely be the choice as it will add aggression thus adding to your base taunt on all taunts). Don't waste any additional points here. In the warrior tree, you will want the taunt when you block ability (sorry, at "work" and I do not have access to ability names), probably the +CA damage to your group buff, if you are raiding TSO you will likely want an additional 5 into the shield bash ability as it will improve the accuracy of the 4 set bonus on the fabled TSO set. Right now the endline for the warrior tree is completely worthless on yellow/orange mobs because it is resisted far, far to often, once GU51 is out it will be worth the point. In the guardian line, you will want both endlines, to increase your health on your group buff, and with GU51 you will likely want the 15% strikethrough for more accuracy in Dstance. The other skills people tend to max are Dstance armor effectiveness, wall of armor for the 10% SE, increased skill reductions on Decimate, hateful assault, maybe a few others...by this time you should know what you want.

Undorett

Consider the agility line, as well. Guardians are weak in aoe threat, and the 40% multiattack and extra blue aoe really help out in heroics. Dragoon Reflexes is a great save in many group situations.

On a related topic, is there a website with a good listing of the TSO AA's? I haven't picked up TSO yet (we just came back after a good year+ hiatus) and I'm trying to get a handle on what Guardian choices are.

EQ2 Wikia doesn't seem to have them, nor EQ2 Vault, Allakhazam, or TenTonHammer... of course, I will concede the possibility that I have completely missed them!

Disregard the previous post - turns out Wikia now has a full breakdown of TSO AA's, it wasn't there when I first looked.
