How important are these items. With a glance at EQ2 players and the flames forums it appears that some of the best geared Def's in game use both. The RE2 totem will be easy enough to get and I should have it shortly, but the Claymore will be kind of a PITA. Is it worth going back and doing the Claymore quests for that item? Does it make a noticeable difference to your heal parse or just in general? Like all defilers I'm interested in anything that signifcantly increases ward amount, but just wanted to be sure the Claymore was worth the effort.

Very much worth the investment of time! The Claymore item is still used to this very day, and it is worth getting if you have the people willing to help you with Labs and Deathtoll.

Claymore procs for me basically every group ward, a lot more than the totem of ankexfen. It's worth it.

The solo questline takes a long time, especially if you're going to solo it as a defiler. The raid bits will be a bit easier because people on Nagafen are forming Labs and DT raids all the time for every bit of AA. If you can't be bothered, Ferhustr's Rolling Pin from Guk 3 is an okay alternative.

I would honestly say these two items, along with the polished marble bangle and the rolling pin from Outer stronghold are perhaps the most important pieces of equipment a shaman if not a priest can obtain.

Whoops I'll amend this just now noticing your on PvP. I wouldn't neccessarily claim that for a PvP character, so you'll have to make your own decisions there

Brawlers in particular, with their large numbers of small damage attacks, wreck themselves on the damage shield.

What's funny is that Chesty and I fought yesterday. Was 1 v. 1 for a while before some people jumped in and I got flattened. That detarget from shifting buckler was annoying. I rarely get a 1v1 with a mystic so was an interesting fight, looked like we were headed for who runs out of power first, but no way a priest v. priest right at firamoot was gonna go to the finish without being interrupted.

As for the post above, for PVP you still need all the PVE items for raids and heroic content. You just need some addtional gear to maximize your PVP chances, and there is specific PVP gear only available on the PVP servers which can be time consuming to get. I've read on flames that all of those procing items don't work at the same time. Don't know if there was a final verdict on that. Seemed like the Claymore did the best at playing well with others.
