I've read the FAQ about the bruiser class, and I'm coming over from a long history of both EQ1 for about 5 years and most recently, WoW since it's beta, so I've got my bases covered I think, I just have a few extra little questions.

Now unlike in most MMOs, it seems that tanks are actually not in short supply in this game. You don't seem to see many guilds recruiting just a bunch of tanks, along with the massive amount of classes that can tank. So my question is that when I put out a msg that I'm lfg, and people see that I'm a bruiser, are the majority going to think "tank", or "subpar DPS?" (I've only heard about the subpar part, only lvl 10, so my knowledge is admitadly low in this department). Which leads me to another question, when most bruisers spec, do they go a more DPS oriented route, just for the solo aspect, or like the Fighter archetype suggests, are they spec'd as tanks for both survivability soloing, and tanking in groups/raids?

Mostly, I'm just trying to get a peak over that hill of the endgame now that I've started my bruiser. I'm having a ton of fun so far, and honestly can't wait for FD at 14 . Any knowledge that the elder bruisers can bestow upon my newbness would be very appreciated and taken to heart when deciding on my spec

I can't really tell you what others truely think about a bruiser. Yes some will know that bruisers are a fighter class while some (even bruisers or both brawlers) think they are strickly dps. Both brawlers are great everyday norrath tanks and instance tanks too. Where issues arise are when fighting two or higher lvl mobs that will practically ignore brawler high avoidance and the mob will hit like a mac truck.

Bruisers do not really have any type of defensive abilities that are great. Just the resistant spirit line (temporary mit buff w/ health over time cost and defensive stance) are the only abilities that a brusier has that actually work. Rock skin is a buff that give the bruiser very high mit buff but stifles and stuns the bruiser in place. It is a hard ability to use.

In proper groups monks and bruisers can do good dps, but so can the zerkers, sk's and guardians for that matter. Atm both brawlers do not really shine dps wise over the other fighters if all gear, buffs, and player skill are evenly matched. A player would think that since brawlers do not have the survival abilities like the plate tanks they would in turn be higher dps, but again this honestly isn't the case.

Both monk and bruiser are fun classes to play lvl 1-80 in everyday norrath. In most raids the average brawler will not be any more of a benefit than a plate fighter of equal stature.

Truthfully we can be classified as dps and classified as tank. As i've been looking for group if a group says "Looking for dps" all it takes is one tell to say i'll go. It's not hard to get in a group at all as dps. In my VP raids i'm outdamaging beserkers by quite a bit (even with the having better gear as in, t2+, mythical.. etc..) I'm currently equipped with 5 pieces of t1, 1 piece of t2.. My Fabled Epic weapon and my offhand is the uber 100.2 dps hammer from leviathian.

Might I add yesterday in pawbuster (non-guild) raid just clearing trash and even on the slow burn I outdamaged a assassin in t2 + mythical and a ranger t2 + mythical by a few 100.. (both groups had dirges) but then again I had a swashie in my group doubling my damage output.. lol. (I was parsing 3rd in the whole raid).

Also about the tanking... I get asked to tank alot of the times if I can but seeing as im pure dps.. I drop like a rock in no time against 83-84's.. but I can tank 78-81's easily lol.. (this is with the wilderness t1 set not our special set)

Not saying that you don't know what you are talking about. Honestly if the swashie was doubling your output then the two predators should have been doing better than the swash all things being equal.

I too have beat assassins and swashies but that is because of poor group set ups that they were unfortunately placed into. Once the raid leader made the adjustments both the assassin and swashie but up numbers far far greater than what my bruiser was doing.

Brusiers can do good fighter dps, but predators and rogues will (if buffed and played correctly) have greater dps potential.

Bruisers can also tank any green con mob very effectively. Any mob that is orange or red to a bruiser is disaster.
