I am trying to reinstall EQ2 on my dad's computer since mine can't handle it, I checked the system requirements through and through and it's meant to handle the game, but when I try to install the game and the launcher I get an error message.

''Launchpad.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close...blahblah'' I get the same when trying to launch EQII.

What is this and is there a way to fix it?

My dad's computer is running XP

Edit: There's now another problem, I got it to work and it updated and everything was going fine, and when I work up his morning and tried to launch EQ2 it wouldn't work, it would crash, nothing from Sony Online is working on this computer, and I paid for a subscription, and I don't want that money to go to a game I can't even play.

Edit Edit: This is just like the vista problem, except it's on XP

I'm guessing that your dad's computer uses Vista? If so, make sure to follow these steps:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

A stab in the dark, but make sure you are running it as the administrator....just a guess, I have never run into this problem, and I know in Vista there are issues with this, but I know you are using XP.

Okay, I finally got it to work, and I paid for my subscription, it updated, okay with that. That the launcher is broken again and keeps crashing, I'm trying to fix it, and I would much like it if someone would help me fix it since I'm getting frustrated and I don't want to pay for a subscription that I can't use.

Also, another thing, I don't see EQ2 in the 'Add/Remove' section of the Control panel. Is this unusual?

Could you provide us with some information about the computer you're trying to run the game on? I'm looking for your graphics card, CPU, and RAM specifically. Please post the first section of your DXdiag or list off the computer components if you already know.
