Just curious if anybody has tried running EQ2 on one of those mini laptops yet.

Even if you have to lower the settings to make it playable, it's still handy to have with you when on travel.

Thanks.

While it may be physically possible to run the game on 1 or 2 of the more powerful netbooks, I wouldn't advise it. Those computers are specifically designed to be low spec and affordable. The biggest obstacle is going to be lack of a graphics card. Since they use integrated graphics chips(at least the ones I've seen), they'll need to borrow memory from the already meager system RAM.

Just to confirm what the TSR said, I have a Acer One with the built in HD (160g) and even ram upgrade (1.5g) and even with everything turned to bare minimums it loads but isn't really playable. I didn't try tweaking any of the Intel card settings, however I don't think it would change the result.

Great little machine otherwise

V

ps - sorry to bounce an older thread but since google brought me here, thought I would add a experience point of view too.

I have an Asus Eee PC 900, sounds similar to the one the above poster has, and it barely runs WoW bare minimum at a half decent framerate. So I doubt it would be worth it to play EQ2 on it, though im sure you could try if you wanted

EverQuest 2 wasn't really design to play on laptops, mainly for desktops where ram and other desktop parts can upgrade much more ease then laptops.

Heck, I've heard of people playing EQ2 on Mac power books running boot-camp. Although EQ2 might be able to run on certain kinds of laptops, SoE doesn't support EQ2 to be play on laptops for the reasons that the tech support gentleman has stated. Why would you want to give up game play and video card quality just to try run it on a laptop anyway.

Desktops are much more viable platform then laptops if you going to play EQ2 for extended periods of time. Hopefully, Microsoft will create a OS that doesn't crash or become system resource hog that Vista has transformed into. I do understand that some people might want to play EQ2 while traveling or waiting for money to purchase or build a computer that will run EQ2 well. I prefer custom built machines myself because I know the quality of the parts inside and it saves money and having the knowledge to trouble shoot your own issues when they arise.
